Department of Pediatric Psychiatry, Hebei Mental Health Center.

Great Wall Network Jiyun Client News (Correspondent Dong Danyang) Autistic children are also known as "children of the stars". They only "flicker" in their own world, and social barriers, narrow interests, or stereotypical behavior make them unsociable. So what exactly is autism? What can we identify in the early days?

Zhang Xin, deputy chief physician of the Department of Pediatric Psychiatry of Hebei Mental Health Center, introduced that autism is a lifelong developmental disorder caused by neurological disorders affecting brain function. Symptoms appear before the age of three, and the affected child is stunted in development and lacks normal verbal and social communication skills.

There are three main manifestations of autism: narrow interests, repetitive behavior, often focusing on one or more fixed games or activities for a long time; lonely and isolated, not establishing contact with others, autistic children like to be alone, have no dependence on their parents, do what they want to do, and do not make eye contact with others; speech barriers are prominent, most autistic children have little speech, or even speech, can not complete situational communication, and can only make simple repetitive sounds, resulting in the loss of situational communication ability. Once the above three aspects of the problem appear, parents must take their children to a professional mental health assessment institution to see a doctor to determine whether the child has the possibility of autism.
