The reason for this recall is that there may be a problem with the internal high-voltage battery insulation of the plug-in hybrid model, and the battery fuse may be damaged, which can cause the battery to contact high-temperature components and increase the risk of fire. There have been 16 cases in Germany that have been caused by related problems, and in February 2021, a Volkswagen Golf exploded while driving, and the car is a new car that has only traveled 300 kilometers.

To address this problem, Volkswagen will conduct free overhauls to the recalled vehicles and install insulation mats at the high-voltage battery switch boxes of the affected vehicles to eliminate the risk of fire from the root. The head of Volkswagen also said: "The safety of our customers is our top priority. In order to be able to guarantee the high standards we set for our vehicles, we are currently analyzing the situation and technical context of each case, and we will actively take appropriate measures to solve the problem. ”
