On the evening of March 23, Ferrari China released a preview of its first SUV model, Purosangue, on social platforms, which also foreshadowed that the new car will enter the Chinese market in the near future.
Ferrari China said that some of the previous rumors (about the new model) are indeed true, and the new car will be officially unveiled this year, and the picture also released a preview of the new SUV.
The trailer reveals limited information, but it can still be seen that it is the Purerangue, Ferrari's first SUV model that has been exposed before. Combined with the previous spy photos, the new car uses Ferrari's new design language, the front is equipped with split headlights, with a larger size of the encirclement, the shape is more complex than the current Ferrari model.
Unlike the relatively burly and tall shape of the Lamborghini Urus, the Purosangue's body height does not reach the size of a traditional SUV, and the front cover is relatively flat. In fact, Ferrari officials do not recognize the Purengue as an SUV model, but define the new car as a FUV Utility Vehicle.
From the side of the car, the front cabin length of the Purosangue is still very large to ensure the driver's centering. For the first time, the rear of the new car adopts through taillights, the trunk lid is equipped with a spoiler above, the lower part adopts the shape of a duck tail, and the surrounding sides are equipped with a total of four-sided sports exhaust.
In the power section, Ferrari Purengue will adopt a new front-mounted engine body architecture, which is expected to be equipped with a plug-in hybrid system from the 296 GTB, equipped with a twin-turbo V6 engine, with a combined output of 610kW, a peak torque of 740N·m, a dual-clutch transmission in the drivetrain, and a four-wheel drive system as standard.
From the perspective of positioning, Ferrari Purengue will be directly benchmarked against Lamborghini Urus after its launch, and the price is expected to remain in a similar range. For reference, Lamborghini Urus sells for as little as 2.941 million yuan in China.
Judging from the hot sales of Lamborghini Urus, Rolls-Ras Cullinan and Bentley Bentayga, Ferrari's purpose in entering the SUV field is self-evident. Although the official does not recognize the identity of the new car SUV, there is no doubt that more and more ultra-luxury car brands have been changing in the direction of "launching more practical and more people-friendly models".
