Since the National Day in 2021, the bronze hall in the Sanxingdui Museum has been closed, and after several months of basic display upgrading and transformation, today (March 18) Red Star News reporter learned that the museum will meet visitors with a new look on March 21.
What exactly is "new"? "There are three main 'new'." Wu Weixi, director of the Academic Research Department and curator of the Sanxingdui Museum, told the Red Star News reporter.
The first is software and hardware new. The overall environment decoration materials are upgraded, the display cabinets, exhibition wall finish materials, auxiliary exhibits and lighting on the exhibition wall are all renewed, pay attention to quality and craftsmanship, add multimedia with carefully arranged corresponding content, and specially set up a special hall using highly immersive virtual reality technology;
The second is the new design of the space. The space design of the two exhibition areas on the first floor is smooth and atmospheric, and the mysterious and sacred exhibition field is constructed;
The third is the new content structure, the new combination of cultural relics, and the new display method. After the upgrading and renovation, the bronze hall has a hall (preface hall) with five exhibition areas, namely the first exhibition area "Susu Shrine", the second exhibition area "The Land of the Gods", the third exhibition area "Strange And Secret Treasure", the fourth exhibition area "Heart Road Course" and the fifth exhibition area "The Mystery of Eternity". The exhibition area is about 4,000 square meters, and 107 pieces (sets) of cultural relics are exhibited. According to the exhibition area and booth where the specific cultural relics are located, in order to fully reveal their connotation and display the beauty of cultural relics, a new exhibition method and atmosphere creation means are adopted.
As for whether the cultural relics will be "updated", Wu Weixi said that some of the newly excavated cultural relics in the sanxingdui site sacrifice area are temporarily exhibited in the restoration hall, and the exhibits are replaced from time to time. The cultural relics of the Bronze Pavilion are still mainly excavated from pits No. 1 and No. 2. "After the new museum is repaired, the newly excavated cultural relics, the cultural relics of the comprehensive hall and the bronze hall will be concentrated in the new museum for display, and the display of the new museum will be considered as a whole." At present, the construction of the new museum has begun. Wu Weixi said.

"The original bronze altar (fragment) is on display for the first time. Previously, we exhibited a replica of the altar's research restoration. "He Junmin introduced that the bronze altar fragments are 53 centimeters high and can be divided into three layers: the lower layer is two divine beasts, the middle is four human figures, the top of the mountain seat, the upper floor is a square building, figures, phoenixes and so on." As an important temple sacrifice artifact, the altar vividly expresses the ancient Shu ancestors' cognition of heaven and earth, nature and gods. He said that although there are still many doubts, with the step-by-step advancement of the new archaeological discoveries of Sanxingdui, I believe that in the future, we may be able to interpret the concept of sacrifice of the ancient Shu ancestors.
What is the difference between a copy and an original? He Junmin pointed to the pattern on the wall next to him, "This is the shape of a replica of the previously exhibited." Because the original is mutilated, the experts have made some additions based on speculation. The so-called four points of reality and six points of imagination. But to be more respectful of history, we are currently exhibiting the originals. He further explained that, for example, in the original, the top of the altar has the appearance of a similar figure, and there is only one side. According to experience, experts have restored it into a four-square shape, "however, in case it is not a four-square, but a three-party or five-party." So we put out the originals and welcome visitors to imagine differently. ”
Many bronze human heads have been unearthed from the Sanxingdui Sacrifice Pit, in different forms: there are flat heads, the top of the mouth of the mother, the wearing of biagonal helmets, the dome wearing hat hoops and other types, but also there are different hairstyles such as hanging braids, coiled braids, high buns, and vertebral buns. In the Bronze Head Group Portrait section, there are several "new" items.
"In fact, they have appeared in the outreach before, but they have not appeared in the previous permanent exhibition of the Bronze Pavilion." He Junmin pointed to a bronze human head in the shape of a double-horned crown and a domed human head wearing a hair fence, saying that these two pieces appeared in the bronze hall for the first time. "You see, there were hair holes behind the heads of domed people such as bronze da liren, but at that time, experts didn't know what the hair fence looked like. Until the back of the head of this domed human head was found, the appearance of the hair fence was clearly displayed. "The hair is machete-shaped, erect, and the part of the hair on the top of the head can be seen from the front.
The new device | immersive experiences, interactive miniscreens, and ambience projection
Breaking the previous exhibition pattern, the new bronze hall is divided into five exhibition areas. Among them, in the second exhibition area, there is an immersive experience of "In the World - Beautiful and Peaceful Duguang No Wild", 360 ° surround projection, animation effect, so that visitors can relax in this area, intuitively understand the living environment of the ancient Shu ancestors. "The animated scenes are based on a combination of historical records and artistic techniques. After the upgrade of the bronze hall, a lot of LED screens and interactive screens and other equipment have also been added. In addition to "In the Middle of the World - Beautiful and Peaceful Duguang Wilderness", there are two books on the interactive screen, namely "Preliminary Investigation of sanxingdui bronze casting process" and "Casting technology of Sanxingdui civilization". Clicking into a book, just like the simulation of turning the page, you can intuitively see the cultural relics and cultural relics data of Sanxingdui, "so that you can meet the popular understanding that everyone wants, but also meet some academic requirements." ”

The environment of the Bronze Pavilion is mainly blue-gray, with the assistance of lighting, some starry sky sets, and abstract three-dimensional images of the sun and clouds on the ceiling, which can make people instantly feel like crossing a mysterious space.
In fact, the new environment of the Bronze Pavilion is also reflected in the key display of each cultural relic. The bronze longitudinal mask, which is 138 centimeters wide and 66 centimeters high, is one of the largest masks unearthed from Sanxingdui. Its eyeballs are extremely exaggerated, with columnar bulges out of the orbit 16 cm, and the huge ears are fully expanded. According to expert analysis, its binocular eyes may be related to the legend of the first generation of Shu king silkworm bushes in the literature. He Junmin stood in front of him and said with emotion, "Above the bronze longitudinal mask is the azure starry sky. Looking longitudinally, there is hope to see far away, and the meaning of looking at the starry sky. When we stand here and look up at them, they are also looking at the starry sky. Lighting design has also gradually become the focus of tourists when visiting museums. In a group of bronze full-body portraits, the Red Star News reporter saw four small bronze figures standing in front of them, the lights coming up from the front, and behind them also appeared a shadow larger than the portrait.
