The discovery of Sanxingdui has rewritten the history of Chinese civilization, especially the history of ancient Shu, but the study of its formation and disappearance is still relatively superficial, especially why these relics have many traces of fire and damage, and there is no good explanation. We apply historical materialist thought and the "reduction method" to rethink Sanxingdui and put forward the view that "Sanxingdui originated from Dayu and was damaged by lightning strikes". "Lightning strike theory" is the first to propose, based on the ancient no flash rod that is, lightning rod, American scientist Franklin invented in 1752, the ancient Shu Basin is a lightning-prone area, many buildings, forests, animals, ships, etc. are often burned by lightning strikes, so most of the Sanxingdui cultural relics have burn marks.
