On March 16, Milan, Pirelli will supply the original P Zero Elect for the new BMW iX, a 100% pure electric SUV produced by a well-known German car manufacturer, for the xDrive50 and the more sporty M60 model.
P Zero Elect tires are available for the BMW iX xDrive50 in 255/50R21 109Y XL and 275/40R22 107Y XL, which can also be fitted to the more sporty M60 models.
The sidewalls of the tires are marked with a star, the original tyre logo developed specifically for BMW, reflecting Pirelli's "tailor-made" philosophy. In addition, Pirelli created a 22-inch tire for the BMW iX that has more grip than the other two: designed for maximum performance, this tire has an "I" logo on the side in addition to the star.
Thanks to these latest original certifications, Pirelli's original market share in the latest generation of electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid models, all equipped with Pirelli ELECT electric vehicle tire technology.
Tires equipped with this technology, such as the P Zero developed for BMW's pure electric flagship model, stand out for their excellent driving comfort, low noise emissions, excellent instantaneous grip, high battery range and safety. Pirelli's intensive research and development of the BMW iX original project underscores the Italian company's commitment to designing specific tires for electric vehicles, i.e. pure electric or plug-in hybrid models. These tires were designed to enhance the characteristics of new energy models from the beginning, as indicated by the "Elect" mark on the tire sidewalls.
Tires for high battery range
The Pirelli P Zero Elect tires, developed for the BMW iX, focus on low rolling resistance, ensuring that the car can travel longer after charging. The tire receives the corresponding European tire label "A" rating, allowing the driver to fully experience all the performance of the car. Compared to conventional P Zero, the structural shape of the tire also affects the driving range, thanks to its superior aerodynamic properties.
The outer profile has been improved to ensure that the tyre outer profile protrudes less, reducing aerodynamic turbulence while improving overall efficiency without sacrificing adequate rim protection. The engraved font on the side of the tire is also distinctive, with the typeface sunken in the sidewall having better aerodynamic performance than the protruding font.
Quiet and comfortable
Created for BMW iX users with a particular focus on comfort, the original Pirelli P Zero Elect tires are also equipped with PNCS (Pirelli Noise Cancellation System) to reduce road noise. PNCS technology consists of a special sound-absorbing material built into the tires that suppress air vibrations, further reducing the noise transmitted to the interior of the car and reducing road noise.
In addition, the tire structure has been optimized to cope with the high weight of this pure electric zero-emission model, ensuring an optimal level of driving safety in all traffic conditions.
