IT House March 18 news, Stellantis's Italian luxury brand Maserati today unveiled its new GranTurismo Folgore (Italian for lightning) pure electric vehicle, the new car as the first pure electric model will be produced at the Mirafiori plant in Italy, and is scheduled to be launched in 2023.
In addition, Maserati said it will also launch a pure electric Grecale SUV next year.
Judging from the teaser, the design of the electric GranTurismo is basically complete, although some details are still not visible. But this camouflaged prototype apparently features a long,scale body design that also includes a slender, fluid head design.
Maserati said the upcoming GranTurismo Folgore will be equipped with three electric motors that deliver more than 1,200 horsepower (895 kW) of power/ power, and claims it can accelerate to 62 mph in less than 3 seconds, up to a legendary speed of 186 mph.
Maserati said GranTurismo Folgore will offer cutting-edge technology solutions derived from Formula E, including the iconic Maserati VDCM and "exceptional performance, comfort and elegance".
Next year will also see the Folgore version of the Grecale SUV and MC20 supercar, as well as a convertible version of the GranTurismo, the GranCabrio, while the next-generation Quattroporte sedan and Levante SUV will be available only as EV models and are expected to be available in 2025.
IT House understands that these Folgore models will use a variety of different platforms, and not all electric vehicles will use Stellantis' series of new tram-specific platforms. For example, Grecale and Alfa Romeo Stelvio are both based on the Giorgio platform, while the electric Folgore will use another version of the architecture.
Maserati's goal is that by 2030, all models will be electric models, and fuel vehicles will be excluded from the range. However, the new GranTurismo will still be available in gasoline. With the Grecale and Grecale Folgore set to debut next week, it's worth looking forward to Maserati announcing more details about these models.
