BYD showed his sword to Tesla

A few years ago I dismissed pure electric vehicles as "old scooter PLUS", but now it seems less exclusive. I thought about it, and there are probably the following reasons:

1, the amplification of fuel anxiety and the weakening of electric anxiety. The recent surge in oil prices has aroused considerable attention, and many car owners can't stand it. In terms of energy costs alone, pure electric vehicles are indeed much lower.

Let me give you an example that can visualize the differences. Before I borrowed a test drive, I would basically experience a week's time, take it in a state of full oil, during which I had to add oil at least once, and the fuel cost was mostly between 300-500 yuan; and before borrowing an electric car, the full charge was about 50 yuan.

If both cars run 500 kilometers, most of the fuel trucks need a tank of fuel, that is, at least 300 yuan, and the tram is only 100 yuan even if it is charged twice. As soon as the price of oil rises, some cars may have to pay dozens of dollars more when filling a tank of oil, and the rising price can almost fully charge a tram.

In addition, many brands are developing and selling vehicles at the same time, but also rapidly layout the charging network, the state is also vigorously supporting. Now that charging is relatively convenient, electric endurance anxiety is naturally weakened accordingly.

2, the expansion of the electric market, the relative reduction of the price of electric vehicles. Many companies regard pure electric vehicles as a new outlet, so in recent years, the market has expanded very rapidly, consumers have more choices; at the same time, the full battery life of pure electric vehicles is also constantly improving, a few years ago there was a 400 km endurance is very high, and now 400 km can only be considered commonplace.

In addition, the previous pure electric vehicles compared to the same level of car price is much higher, you want to spend about 150,000 to buy a pure electric vehicle, only some "crooked melon crack dates" to choose from; and now the price of relatively close to the people of the tram has increased, early 100,000 can buy a pure electric vehicle that is OK in all aspects.

Speaking of pure electric vehicles, we have to mention two brands: BYD and Tesla.

The above is the sales ranking of new energy vehicle manufacturers in February released by the Association of Automobile Manufacturers, and the top three are BYD, Wuling and Tesla.

Note that it is "new energy", hybrid is also covered, BYD is a lot of hybrid models; Wuling's sales of nearly 30,000 vehicles, basically contributed by the pure electric vehicle of Hongguang MINI EV, belongs to the existence of a leg walking and walking very fast, which is not discussed here; and Tesla China, that is, the sales of Model 3 and Model Y, are 23,200.

Undoubtedly, based on domestic and even global perspective, BYD and Tesla are currently the leaders in the field of electric vehicles, but the competition between them is actually not fierce. BYD's models are generally more people-friendly, and it and Tesla have prices that overlap only Han EV and Tang EV, and Tesla is more sporty and BYD is more comfortable.

Speaking of which, some people may ask, BYD's car acceleration time of 100 kilometers is 3.9 seconds, 4.9 seconds, this is not moving?

"Sport" of course and power have to do with the power, but the chassis factor is actually more critical, BYD Han EV top with 100 km acceleration only about 4 seconds, Tesla Model 3 rear-drive version of about 5.6 seconds, but in the track Han EV is much slower than the Model 3. In fact, the exercise is still comfortable, and you can feel it when you go up and walk around twice.

Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology exposed a number of model declaration information, of which BYD has two models, which means that these two cars are already in the preparation stage. I want to talk about one of the models today called the "Seal", which is expected to be released at the Beijing Auto Show in April.

If you know about BYD's cars, you will find that none of its models are rear-drive, whether they are fuel vehicles or new energy vehicles.

However, this situation will soon be over, and SEAL will adopt a rear single motor and front and rear dual motor layout, of which the single motor version also has two power, 150 kilowatts or 230 kilowatts, and the dual motor version front and rear motors are 160 kilowatts and 230 kilowatts, respectively.

BYD launched a mid-size sedan at this stage, and also used a back-drive for the first time, which is an intriguing thing in itself, and it is not difficult to think of Tesla's Model 3.

Above I listed some basic information about the Tesla Model 3 and BYD Seals, from which it is not difficult to see that BYD launched this car is targeted. Seals are slightly larger than the Model 3, the single-motor high-power version and the 4WD version are correspondingly larger than the Model 3 rear-drive and 4WD versions, and the tire flat ratio is slightly larger than the Model 3 (theoretically the smaller the road feel).

Obviously, BYD launched this seal to show the Tesla Model 3.

Looking at the design, BYD's sales have soared in the past two years, which is not unrelated to the improvement of design. The seal's exterior design and its movement positioning are very suitable, the front face is quite tense, because there is no need to retain a considerable area of the grille, the front of the car can be pressed down relatively low, showing a stronger sense of sharpness, looking low.

The tail is designed with through taillights, because compared to the fuel car, the lack of air intake grille, exhaust outlet and other appearance embellishments, BYD SEAL also uses more complex lines to outline the body edges and corners, so that it does not appear too monotonous. I personally think the overall design of this car is still good.

In addition, BYD also prepared a variety of sports kits for optional installation, in addition to the color scheme is a bit non-mainstream, the sales are not bad. In contrast, I think these wheels are okay, and its brakes do not look weak, according to the previous Tang and Han inferences, perhaps also use Brembo brakes.

The motor power is greater than the Model 3, the speed increase should not be much slower; the wheel hub is cooler than the other, and the brakes should not be bad. The "three elements" of movement have two points, but there is also a key point, to use a more common word: control.

The control and chassis are closely related, BYD in order to compete with Tesla, even the chassis suspension is targeted with the same front double wishbones and rear five linkages as tesla Model 3. It should be known that BYD Han did not use double wishbones, but seals that were theoretically one level lower than Han did.

Of course, the configuration is the configuration, the specific structure is definitely different from the Model 3, and what level the chassis texture is at, how the bending support performance is, to be examined after the listing.

Combined with the PREVIOUS BYD models, I think it is good to have a handling performance close to the Model 3, after all, the Seals have more comfort in terms of tires than the Model 3. If there is a surprise in the control, this car may achieve a considerable sales breakthrough; if it is far away, it is probably still "illusory", just superficial movement.

The new car will be officially released at the Beijing Auto Show in April, and there is news that its price range will be between 220,000 and 280,000, but I think the price of the low-power version of the single motor should be pulled to less than 200,000.

The biggest significance of the existence of this model should also be to pull down the price, after all, the rich are only a minority.
