On the evening of June 1, local time, Yemen's Houthi spokesman Yahya delivered a speech, saying that the Houthis have recently launched a series of military operations against multiple targets. One of the operations targeted the USS Eisenhower, which is currently in the northern part of the Red Sea, and the Houthis launched missile and drone strikes against it, the speech added. This is the second Houthi attack on a US aircraft carrier in the past 24 hours.
In addition, one other operation was directed against a US destroyer, and the remaining four operations were against other vessels heading to Israel in violation of the Houthi ban on navigation.
The U.S. Central Command said in a statement on June 1 local time that on May 31, Yemen's Houthi rebels launched drones and anti-ship missiles from areas under their control into the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, and no casualties or losses were reported from U.S. and coalition ships and merchant ships. In addition, the US Central Command shot down drones launched from Houthi-controlled areas over the Gulf of Aden and the Red Sea.
The US statement is in response to the Houthi attack's first attack on the USS Eisenhower. The second attack has yet to be formally responded to by the United States. Judging from the statements of the Houthis and the United States, the first attack by the Houthis on the aircraft carrier may not have achieved any success, otherwise the "Eisenhower" aircraft carrier would not have been there for a second round of attacks. At least the Houthi missiles did not disable the aircraft carrier. As for whether the second attack hit the aircraft carrier, it is also subject to further confirmation by information from all sides.
Unlike the information released after the first Houthi attack, the second attack did not say that the US aircraft carrier was hit. There is a high probability that the Houthi missiles and drones still did not hit the US aircraft carrier.
