The difference between an anti-ship cruise missile and an anti-ship ballistic missile
Ordinary countries only have anti-ship cruise missiles, and cruise missiles and ballistic missiles are fundamentally different, and the trajectory, guidance methods, accuracy, and combat methods are completely different. The difference in range is huge, the ballistic trajectory can reach tens of thousands of kilometers, the effective range of most cruise missiles is about 100 kilometers, and the Chinese "Eagle Strike"-18 anti-ship cruise missile, with a maximum range of 600 kilometers, has already set a world record for shipborne cruise missiles.
Cruise missiles have always been powered, ballistic missiles are only powered in the ascent stage. Because ballistic missiles are parabolic ballistics and have no power at the end, their accuracy is very poor compared with cruise missiles, with an error of a few meters to tens of meters. Due to these characteristics, ballistic missiles can only attack stationary targets such as military bases, radar stations, and cities, and cannot attack mobile targets.
ICBMs are ballistic missiles
The engine of the cruise missile will work until it hits the target, especially the anti-ship cruise missile has radar guidance or infrared guidance at the end, and the direction can be adjusted through the radar to accurately hit the target. Therefore, foreign scientific research experts all believe that anti-ship missiles are contrary to common sense and cannot be realized at all.
But China has achieved it, and the concept of "anti-ship ballistic missiles" (ASBMs) stems from China's experience in developing ballistic missiles, because land-based ballistic missiles can be launched from covert and maneuvering platforms to hit targets hundreds of miles off China's coast, and China's navy is weak, and if the fleet attacks, then if it can launch ballistic missiles from land to attack moving targets, it can make up for the current situation of the naval gap. And the DF-21D is the world's first anti-ship ballistic missile. The DF-26 is a medium- and long-range anti-ship ballistic missile developed on the basis of the Df-21D.
The U.S. military has a very high evaluation of China's anti-ship missiles, the range of DF-21D has reached about 1400 kilometers, and the range of DF-26 has reached 5000 kilometers, directly covering Guam, Dongfeng-26 has a terminal sprint speed of not less than Mach 18, and the error can be controlled within 30 meters when attacking important targets in the Central Pacific. The warhead weighs 1.2 to 1.8 tons, combined with its huge kinetic energy, then even a 100,000-ton nuclear-powered aircraft carrier will inevitably be hit by the penetration of multiple decks, and if the explosion wave and its hangar, fuel depot and ammunition depot, then the aircraft carrier will undergo a chain of martyrdom reactions and then sink.
This also means that once the US aircraft carrier enters the range of Guam, it will face the risk of being attacked by China/
