An article summary ~

Whether in real life, the relatives and friends around around the baby, or the postpartum mothers who visit the clinic will be concerned about a topic: after giving birth to a baby, when will menstruation come? Because I have just given birth to a baby, I am also facing such a problem. In order to give you a more reasonable explanation, after consulting the relevant information, the postpartum menstrual related issues are summarized as follows, only for the reference of mothers.

01

When do I menstruate after giving birth? Vary!

Menstruation usually resumes around 6 weeks after childbirth. Among them, about 2.4% of new mothers had menstrual resurgence within 6 weeks after childbirth, 61.1% within 12 weeks after childbirth, and 36.5% within 24 weeks after childbirth.

After research and investigation: the question of when to menstruate is related to factors such as personal constitution, mode of delivery (vaginal birth or caesarean section), whether breastfeeding and the length of breastfeeding time.

For mothers who give birth normally, menstruation will generally resume one month after childbirth, but mothers with poor physical fitness and complications will have a later menstrual recovery. Among the several factors that affect menstrual recurrence, breastfeeding and the length of time have the greatest impact on menstrual recovery.

Because during lactation, higher levels of prolactin in the blood can inhibit the function of the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian axis, so that the secretion of estrogen and progesterone is reduced, forming temporary amenorrhea. In this way, pure breastfeeding mothers will have delayed menstruation and ovulation, and some will menstruate a few months after childbirth, and some even have to menstruate a year after childbirth.

Next, let's look at a related domestic study:

In terms of postpartum menstrual recurrence time, the study authors studied 90 mothers with different feeding patterns, and the results showed that the average recovery time of postpartum menstruation was (5.14 ±3.50) months, of which the average menstrual recurrence time of non-breastfeeding mothers was the shortest, (2.50 ±1.74) months, and the longest menstrual recovery time for exclusively breastfed mothers was (5.86 ±3.65) months.

For non-nursing mothers, menstruation usually occurs 2 months after childbirth. So the time of menstruation is different for each mother after giving birth to her baby!

■Tips:

If a nursing mother is one year after giving birth, or three months after stopping breastfeeding, she needs to be vigilant if she has not yet had her period. On the one hand, it is very likely that she is pregnant, and on the other hand, there may be a problem, either way, you need to go to the hospital.

After menstruation, can I still breastfeed? Of course!

Some mothers around me often ask: Can I breastfeed my baby after menstruation? Some mothers even doubt the quality of the milk and terminate breastfeeding, but this view is wrong.

In general, the quality of milk is the best for the mother in the 6 months after childbirth, and the quality will decrease slightly after 6 months, so it is recommended that the baby add complementary foods after 6 months.

After the big aunt arrives, some of the mothers may have some changes, such as: nipples become hard, milk quality is slightly reduced, taste changes, but these are temporary, and the big aunt will return to normal after that.

The quality of the milk changes after the big aunt arrives: fat is reduced, protein is increased, so some babies will have indigestion, but the mother should not be nervous and do not suspend breastfeeding, because this is only temporary.

When breastfeeding meets the great aunt, it is recommended that the mother increase nutrition during menstruation, you can eat more lean meat, drink more soup and water: fish soup, milk and so on.

There are three different great aunts after childbirth!

■ Dysmenorrhea or no dysmenorrhea

Dysmenorrhea is not painful, and childbirth is beneficial for women with prenatal dysmenorrhea, regardless of the mode of delivery, more than 20% of women have disappeared or reduced postpartum dysmenorrhea.

Therefore, some mothers have dysmenorrhea before giving birth, even very serious, the pain is unbearable, but after giving birth to a child, dysmenorrhea is good, this is primary dysmenorrhea, most of them do not have organic lesions, after giving birth to the child, the blood is unobstructed, and the dysmenorrhea is good. While some other mothers still have dysmenorrhea, or even aggravated, this part of the mother diagnosed as secondary amenorrhea, often accompanied by some reproductive organ diseases, such as endometriosis, adenomyosis, caesarean section uterine incision diverticulum and so on.

■ Delay of menstruation or advance

The normal menstrual cycle is about 28 days, and the difference between before and after will not be a week. Some mothers come every month as promised before giving birth to a child, and after giving birth, the great aunt will often postpone. If the difference in postpartum menstruation is more than one week after several consecutive times compared with prenatal time, menstrual abnormalities can be considered. The big aunt postponed, the mothers also have to pay attention to whether there is another joy, buy a test strip to test it to know!

■ Increased menstrual volume or decreased

Compared with vaginal delivery, caesarean section has a greater impact on postpartum menstruation. Prolonged menstruation after caesarean section, intermenstrual bleeding are associated with postpartum endometritis and post-caesarean section hysterectomy diverticulum, and the reduction of menstruation is considered to be related to the inflammatory reaction caused by caesarean section causing ischemia and hypoxia at the lower uterine incision site, acidosis and the release of inflammatory mediators affecting uterine repair and repeated wiping of the uterine cavity during caesarean section may damage the basal layer of the uterine lining.

For mothers with the above problems, go to the hospital as soon as possible to avoid delaying treatment!

04

If you want your aunt to be normal after childbirth: do five!

Increase nutrition: Appropriately increasing nutrition after childbirth is not only conducive to the recovery of the body, but also increases the quality and yield of milk.

Supplementation of trace elements: including calcium, iron and so on. Because whether it is a mother who is born vaginally or a mother who has a cesarean section, there will be more or less blood loss when giving birth to a baby, whether it is for the mother or the baby, supplementing trace elements is necessary!

Proper exercise: Proper exercise can be done after childbirth to increase blood circulation. Such as outdoor walks, yoga practice, postpartum recovery exercises, etc., before the body has not recovered, try not to do strenuous exercise.

Happy mood: Many mothers will change their emotions and emotions after childbirth, and even suffer from postpartum depression, which is very unfavorable for the recovery of the body and the arrival of the great aunt. It is recommended that mothers should always maintain a good mood to prevent depression, and family members should also participate in creating a good atmosphere.

Ensure sleep: Mothers will have drowsiness after childbirth, pay attention to more rest, do not stay up late.

summary

Mothers should correctly understand the postpartum menstrual problems, do not easily believe in some folk traditions, if you do not understand, or find that there are menstrual-related problems as soon as possible to go to the regular hospital for treatment, early detection, early treatment, so as not to delay treatment.
