On February 18, 2022, Mercedes-Benz released a new limited edition truck called The Atlas L Driver Extent+. This truck is the third limited edition truck developed by Mercedes-Benz based on the new generation of Actos after the Actros Edition 2 and the Actros Grand Prix Edition. It is also the first model of the Actros series to be launched after the completion of the subdivision.
As you can see from the model name, this truck is built for the driver. Therefore, all configurations are centered on the driver's feelings, whether it is the static appearance of the vehicle or the dynamic driving experience of the vehicle. In terms of the appearance of the vehicle, the basic configuration such as the shield front cover and the electronic rearview mirror remain the same, but Mercedes-Benz adds chrome stroke decoration to the front cover, which highlights the level of the front grille and enhances the high-end feeling of the vehicle.
This chrome decoration is not shiny, but uses a matte process with a matte surface to avoid a design element that is too prominent, and also enhances the calmness of the vehicle. Next to the front cover, Mercedes-Benz also designed a white line to outline the shape of the front cover and deflector, and continued to the cab window.
The car's paint is made of black metallic paint, which is also available as an option on the regular Actus L. Although this weakens the custom attributes of the Actos L Driver Extent+ to some extent, Mercedes-Benz believes that if it lacks the combination with other design elements, it is not perfect.
The vehicle adopts a Gigaspace-sized cab, which has a width of 2.5 meters and an internal clearance height of about 2 meters, making it the largest size cab available for the Mercedes-Benz Actos L series. With its high ceiling, it provides the driver with more resting space and more luggage.
Air horns are mounted on the top of the cab and antennas and cue lights are mounted on the front of the high ceiling. Above the windshield, the vehicle is also fitted with a custom version of the Actros L Driver Extent+. The visor features chrome trim and the vehicle's model name, and four circular searchlights to enhance the lighting.
Under the front three-pronged star logo, Mercedes-Benz added LED lights, which can illuminate the outline of this huge three-pronged star logo at night to improve the recognition of the vehicle at night, and this configuration is also optional in the ordinary version of Thetros, Arocs and other models. The difference is that actros L Driver Extent+'s trident star logo has a black decorative panel underneath it, enclosing the logo area, and its reflection effect makes the logo look brighter.
The model markings on the side of the vehicle are still in the form of vehicle GVW+ rounding horsepower. The 1863 represents a vehicle with a GVW of 18 tons, and the 63 represents a vehicle with a 625 hp engine and rounded to 630 hp. For vehicles with 625 horsepower, the horsepower in the model logo is replaced by a cutout style, highlighting the high end. Below the model logo, there is also the word Driver Extent+, which has a platinum-gold finish that distinguishes it from the regular silver version.
The vehicle chassis is filled with large fuel tanks on the left and right, and the side skirts are not treated much, only chrome trim strips are added, and the overall visual effect is not as good as the "shark fins" on the Edition 2. The working platform is made of perforated steel plates above the chassis, which takes into account practicality and visual performance.
Actros L Driver Extent+ comes standard with high-gloss aluminium wheels and decorative nuts and chrome shaft head trims. Owners can also choose to wear black painted wheels and axle head decorative caps to shape the appearance at will. The decorative cap of the shaft head is equipped with the Mercedes-Benz three-pronged star logo, and there are multi-stage round holes on the side to assist the shaft head to dissipate heat.
Mercedes-Benz welcome lights have been added to the steps of the vehicle, and the main body is made of stainless steel, which is about the height of the person's chest, which can further enhance the recognition of the vehicle in the dark environment and add high-end attributes to the vehicle.
In the interior part, the Actros L Driver Extent+ is not much different from the regular Actos L. The electronic rearview mirror system and multimedia cockpit, coupled with the exquisite steering wheel, as well as the one-button start and electronic handbrake system, make it feel like a high-end passenger car.
The instrument panel is decorated with carbon fiber and seam decoration, and the side is equipped with a variety of interfaces such as cigarette lighter interface and USB interface, which is convenient for the use of electrical equipment.
On the roof, Mercedes-Benz designed a new ambient lighting system, which also combines the function of atmosphere lights, with a total of 138 LED light beads, hidden arrangement, and the lighting is softer and more comfortable.
Actros L Driver Extent+ also comes standard with a stand-alone parking lock that has been hot in recent times. It is fixed with the vehicle central control lock, and the door is locked with the boarding armrest through manual control to ensure the safety of the driver. The seats of the vehicles have been replaced with leather surfaces with stitching, and the curtains have been replaced with thicker, thicker black curtains with better light blocking performance.
Mercedes-Benz also pairs the Actos L Driver Extent+ with a custom handheld coffee machine that can be easily placed in the cup holder and has a high-pressure extraction function, allowing drivers to drink a cup of esprazo anytime, anywhere.
Actros L Driver Extent+ is limited to 150 units and has received numerous orders. Mercedes-Benz claims that they will strictly control the total number of limited editions, avoid flooding of vehicles, and reduce their own special value. With a more "rioty" design and a more comfortable interior, the Actros L Driver Extent+ is the real driver's truck.
