The old man was born on September 17, 1917 (the second day of the eighth month of the lunar calendar), and is already 106 years old, which can be described as a high lifespan. Even more legendary is that the old lady and her husband, Mr. Weng Xueren, are a rare pair of centenarians in the world, the two are the same age, and they married in October 1932. After 2 months of 86 years, Mr. Weng Lao passed away on December 29, 2018. They were already approaching the world's longest marriage record, and should be the national record holder for the longest marriage age in the country.
Hearing this news, I can't help but recall the two condolences of the Chongyang Festival in 2017 and 2018. When they came to their grandson's house in Sunshine Mountain Village after the National Day in 2017, the old couple who had just spent a hundred years together were full of spirit and radiant, which was really "a strange place to celebrate the centenary of the same day, and coincidentally Chongyang greeted the day." In 2018, it was the golden autumn of October, and I went to visit Sunshine Mountain again, and the couple was already 102 years old. When asked about their children, they had five children, of whom the eldest daughter, born in 1935, was 84 years old, and there were 46 direct descendants of the extended family of the fifth generation. Elder Weng Xueren is a rural teacher, and there are many families in the surrounding villages who have been his students for three generations and enjoy high prestige in the local area. After his death, a student recalled: "At the age of 7, carrying a small school bag and following his aunts to school, Teacher Weng, who is now 102 years old, is the enlightenment teacher of three generations of my family's grandchildren. He is patient and meticulous, generous and dedicated, and loves students like children, which makes the whole village give a thumbs up to this day! We are hilly, and the village primary school is actually a big temple, located in the middle of a large field. Whenever there is wind and rain, ice and snow, Teacher Weng always sends the children who have no parents to pick them up one by one, and the next day he waits for the children at the classroom door to come to class one by one. When he found out that a child did not come to class, he went to visit his home as soon as possible after class. From Mr. Private School in the old society to the people's teacher, from teaching for decades, rooted in the countryside, more than a thousand people in the village, all of them are his students, naturally, my grandmother, my father, my mother and then to me, is no exception. Old Man Wen Yue'e is a gentle and virtuous old lady. She was born in Jintian Village, the former Taifu Township, when she married to the Natural Village of Wengjia in Taifu Village at the age of 16 (and later settled in Jintian Village), her husband's family was a big family, her husband was the eldest son in the family, and there were six younger brothers and a younger sister below, and she took care of them carefully and patiently. Shortly after the eldest daughter was born, the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression broke out, and the second eldest brother-in-law was killed by bandits, and his two children died one after another. After surviving the tribulations of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, they ushered in new China, spent silver, gold, and diamond marriages hand in hand, and after stepping into the new century, they celebrated 70 years of platinum marriage and 80 years of oak marriage, creating a legend in the world.
The legend of the Weng family does not stop there. In The Natural Village of Wengjia in Taifu Village, there is a stout camphor tree that needs to be hugged by three people, and the tree is more than 600 years old and still flourishes. Curiously, the Weng clan people who moved here from Pingyang, Zhejiang Province, in the late Qing Dynasty were as exuberant and long-lasting as this ancient tree. Weng Xueren's father, Weng Lishun, was born in 1897 and died in 2001 at the age of 105, spanning three centuries, the longest-lived male in the history of Changxing County, and when he died that year, he was also five generations old, with a total of 119 descendants.
