Golden Gate Palace "Behind the Scenes 5" Art Week Performance "Haiyuan"
Saturday and Sunday, February 5 and Sunday, February 6, 2022, 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. In the lower level of the Golden Gate Palace Aquarium, the performance "Abysse" is presented to the audience.
A strange underwater sculpture found in the aquarium. Sculptors, performers and choreographers Yvan Clédat and Coco Petitpierre, a couple who blended art, created a varied and interesting work. Abysse Haiyuan belongs to their activated series of sculptures. It is an aquarium decorated with rocks and shiny concrete, in which hides from nudibranchs, a furry colorful marine gastropod. In the process of activating the sculpture, the creature explores its inner surroundings in an organic and vibrant choreography. This peculiar artistic act attracts many children to stop, and some bold people to touch it.
The duo of Yvan Clédat and Coco Petitpierre met in 1986. Sculptors, performers, and choreographers alternately question stage spaces and exhibition spaces, through the varied works in which the bodies of these two artists often play a role. In theatres, art centres, museums or festivals in France and around the world, especially in the Grand Palais (Les Aubes sont navrantes), la Parade Modern and Les Merveilles . While they share their artistic activities, they collaborate as set designers or costume designers with many directors and choreographers of contemporary scenes.
Over a long weekend, many artists occupied all floors of the Golden Gate Palace through creations and dazzling performances of specific locations. The sea invaded the bazaar, thick vegetation appeared here and there, and a strange creature appeared in the aquarium...
This year, contemporary creations once again meet the history of the palace and its architecture and invite the public to (rediscover) them!
