Hon Hai may launch two electric vehicles this year to increase the supply of vehicle parts

As the world's largest foundry of iPhones, Hon Hai Precision (hereinafter referred to as Hon Hai) issued three different types of electric vehicle models in a row in October last year, including SUVs, cars and buses, which marked that the company also began to join the cross-border car manufacturing action. But after the release, the car-making news about Hon Hai was rarely reported. However, recently, some media reported that Hon Hai will launch two electric vehicles this year and will start production in Ohio, USA, in February this year.

Not long ago, it was reported that Hon Hai Group and Thailand National Petroleum Group (PTT) planned to set up a thai electric vehicle factory in a joint venture, and the two sides will finalize the final investment details in the first half of this year. It is reported that the total amount of investment in the first phase is planned to be about 1 billion US dollars, and the first model will be officially put into production as soon as the first quarter of 2024. Last year, Hon Hai also took over an auto plant for U.S. startup Lordstown Motors Corp, which is also the manufacturing plant where Hon Hai will launch a new electric car.

In addition to vehicle manufacturing, Hon Hai has also increased the scale of production of new energy auto parts. According to Hon Hai's estimates, its auto parts output will reach 4.573 billion yuan this year, and it plans to achieve the goal of providing parts or services for 10% of the world's electric vehicles between 2025 and 2027.
