Among them, he alone annihilated more than 100 enemies. However, he was seriously injured and was sent to a field hospital for treatment. After recovering from his injuries, Chai Yunzhen's body fell disabled. Someone suggested that he go to the troops, but he shook his head and said, "You can't go and cause trouble for the troops." Since then, he has been incognito for 33 years.
On October 1, 1950, under repeated warnings from China, the US military resolutely crossed the 38th Line and burned the flames of war to the banks of the Yalu River, completely ignoring the poor and backward Chinese army, when New China had just been founded, everything was in ruins, they thought that China was a paper tiger, and did not dare to resist in the slightest.
On October 19, 1950, Peng Dehuai led the volunteer soldiers to fight in korea, officially opening the prelude to the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea. Chai Yunzhen's unit is the Eighth Company of the Third Battalion of the Forty-fifth Division of the Fifteenth Army, and the Eighth Company is a meritorious company, which has never been defeated in history and has not completed the task, and is called by the People's Liberation Army as a company that cannot be defeated and cannot be defeated.
Park Dafeng blockade battle
In May 1951, volunteers and American troops met at the Park Dafeng Narrow Road. Because of the many losses suffered under the volunteers, the US army became extra cautious.
On the first day, the U.S. military made only tentative attacks.
The next day, under the cover of heavy fire from aircraft and tanks, the American troops began to advance, and as a result, the volunteer soldiers had already prepared, and the poor American troops were beaten to pieces, turning around and fleeing with tanks, and the slow soldiers directly became the ghosts of the muzzle. In the first clash, the Americans lost more than 150 people, while the Volunteers lost only 1.
On the third day, the US military increased its firepower, from the ground and air, launched a 9-hour bombardment of the volunteer positions, and countless volunteer soldiers, in order to hold the positions, would rather die than retreat, shouting: Defend the motherland and liberate Korea. They braved artillery fire and repelled the enemy's charge more than a dozen times in a row, and finally the American army collapsed, and even the corpses were too late to pick up, so they fled in a hurry
The embarrassed and angry American commander was finally driven crazy, and he gathered all the aircraft, tanks, and artillery that could be used to try to save face by taking advantage of the equipment, launched round after round of indiscriminate bombardment of the volunteer positions, and used all means to encircle the volunteers.
In danger, Chai Yunzhen was ordered
Many positions of our army were occupied, and the front was tightly fought, and Chai Yunzhen, the leader of the seventh squad of the Eighth Company, was ordered to lead the only 3 remaining soldiers in the squad to retake the position by killing the blood and preparing for the counterattack. The 4 men divided into two groups and detoured from both sides to encircle the enemy, successfully recapturing two hills and killing an enemy commander.
The remaining enemies were suddenly in chaos, frantically fleeing, did not expect to collide with the soldiers who rushed to support, the space between the two mountains was small, Chai Yunzhen several people hurriedly raised their guns to strafe, the bullets ran out with grenades, after the bullets ran out of food, they fought naked, Chai Yunzhen alone destroyed more than 100 enemies, but he was also wounded in 24 places in the fight, his index finger was bitten off by the enemy, and the whole person was blurred with blood and flesh.
After the battle, Chai Yunzhen was awarded the honorary title of Special Meritorious Hero and First Class Combat Hero. Unexpectedly, at such a glorious moment, he chose to retire.
Hidden for thirty-three years
After a year of treatment in the hospital, Chai Yunzhen chose to leave silently, and someone suggested that he go to the army, but he shook his head and said: "You can't go to the army to cause trouble."
After leaving, Chai Yunzhen used his disabled soldier certificate to receive a demobilization fee of 1,000 kilograms of rice from the local civil affairs bureau, and has since returned to his hometown to hide his reputation. For 33 years, he never mentioned his heroic deeds to anyone and silently became a farmer.
Over the years, the troops have not given up on finding him, and their footprints have spread to almost all identities. It was not until 1984, from the mouth of Chai Yunzhen's comrades-in-arms, that people learned that his hometown may be in Sichuan, so investigators twice published a search notice in the Sichuan Daily to find Chai Yunzhen.
It reads: Chai Yunzhen was originally the commander of the eighth company and the seventh squad of our unit, and in the fifth campaign of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea in 1951, He heroically killed the enemy in the Battle of Park Dafeng, and was awarded the title of hero for meritorious service, and because he was seriously wounded, he returned to China and was hospitalized, and lost contact with the troops.
Coincidentally, this news was seen by his son Chai Bingrong, who knew that his father was a Vietnam Veteran. Although the newspaper "Chai Yunzhen" and the father "Chai Yunzheng", the last word is somewhat deviated. But he still went back to check with his father's information on the troops and determined that he was the hero everyone had been looking for. It turned out that the comrade-in-arms who filled in his name at that time had registered his name incorrectly.
The hero returns
On September 23, 1984, Chai Yun, accompanied by staff, finally returned to the army, and the news soon swept through Kyushu, and North Korea learned that the hero was still alive. But in the face of such a special honor, Chai Yunzheng seemed a little sad, he said: "I am not a hero, the real hero is those soldiers who sacrificed", the most unforgettable comrade-in-arms. In the end, Chai Yunzheng changed his name to "Chai Yunzhen".
In 1985, Chai Yun-jin was invited to North Korea to participate in the 35th anniversary of the Chinese Volunteer Army's battle in Korea, and Kim Il Sung personally awarded him the "Order of Freedom and Independence of the First Class" and called him a "living martyr".
On December 26, 2018, Chai Yunzhen passed away peacefully at the age of 93.
From the Battle of Huaihai to the Battle of Shangganling, the Eighth Company of Special Gong has participated in the battle more than 150 times, repeatedly made meritorious achievements, and pushed the opponent without defeat, everyone in the Eighth Company of Special Gong is a banner, and many combat heroes have emerged, such as chai Yunzhen, a hero who has been hidden for 33 years, Cui Hanbi, a "steel warrior", and Lei Ligang, a "sharp airborne soldier", and so on.
In the Battle of Shangganling, the Eighth Company of Special Gong was even more brilliant, holding its position for 14 consecutive days and nights, annihilating more than 1,700 enemy troops in 43 days, and finally climbing to the top of the main peak and planting a battle flag, a lifetime of glory.
