In the past year, due to the sluggish terminal demand, emission standard switching, early overdraft of demand, high inventory and other factors, the domestic heavy-duty truck market ended five consecutive years of rapid growth, with cumulative sales of 1.395 million vehicles, down 13.8% year-on-year. The overall trend of "high before and low after" has declined for eight consecutive months, of which the year-on-year decline in August-December has exceeded 50%. 53,000 units were sold in December, a new low in monthly sales in the same period in nearly six years.

In this context, the TOP10 has declined to varying degrees, and the decline in the latter enterprises is obvious. Among them, Hanma Technology under the jurisdiction of Geely Commercial Vehicles has the largest decline (40%). However, the performance of new energy heavy trucks is good, with cumulative sales of 1513 vehicles, an increase of 370% year-on-year. This year, we will focus on a number of product lines such as mixer trucks, electric heavy trucks, G2 tractors, and launch a new generation of M7 EV series products.

The top five sales are all above 100,000 vehicles, and the overall market share is as high as 86%. Foton ranked fifth, with 105387 units sold. Ten years ago, the joint venture company Foton Daimler was officially established, and its six major product lines (Auman Galaxy, EST-A, EST, GTL, ETX, Planet) covered more than 200 varieties, achieving the most complete coverage of heavy-duty truck products, with a cumulative production and sales of more than 1 million vehicles.

Shaanxi Automobile Group ranked fourth in the industry with 193144 vehicles, formerly known as Shaanxi Automobile Manufacturing Plant, which was founded in the 1960s. As one of the first batch of domestic vehicle and parts export base enterprises, Shaanxi Automobile has set up 40 overseas offices, more than 300 first-class dealers, more than 380 overseas service outlets, and its products are exported to more than 100 countries and regions.

According to local conditions, the Group has newly developed more than 400 special models from 41 countries, forming a relatively complete "one country, one vehicle" product layout. Last year, it set a new record of export orders of more than 22,000 units and 19,000 units sold, and continued to maintain the first place in China's market share in Russia and Kazakhstan.

The top three seats have changed. Dongfeng Motor (including Dongfeng Commercial Vehicle, Dongfeng Liuqi Chenglong, Dongfeng Huashen, etc.) fell to third, with a total of 264411 heavy-duty trucks sold throughout the year, down 15% year-on-year. In September last year, the high-end heavy-duty truck "Dongfeng Tianlong GX", which took 6 years to build and be positioned in trunk logistics such as express delivery, express transportation and cold chain, was officially delivered. With the addition of Tianlong KX/KL/VL and Tianjin KR/VR, Dongfeng commercial vehicle lineup is further enriched.

Sinotruk is undoubtedly the "dark horse" of the heavy-duty truck market in 2021, and it has won the single-month sales championship in the second half of the year. The cumulative sales of 286367 vehicles in the whole year, a slight decrease of 1.7% year-on-year, the smallest decline in the top ten; the market share rose to 20.5%, up 2.4 percentage points.

In recent years, Sinotruk has continued to innovate in terms of products, including the "Yellow River" high-end heavy truck, Howo TH7, TX, NX, MAX series, Shandeka C series, G series. Tan Xuguang, chairman of the group, said that within 2 years, it is necessary to achieve domestic leadership in heavy-duty truck products and technologies, form a full range of commercial vehicle competitive advantages within 3 years, and take the lead in heavy-duty truck products to move towards the world-class level.

China's heavy-duty truck "sales champion": FAW Jiefang continued to lead with 346531 vehicles, achieving six consecutive championships. It was also the only company to exceed 300,000 vehicles, down 7.9% year-on-year, but still outperformed the market by 5.9 percentage points. The market share reached 24.7%, up 1.5 percentage points.

Some industry insiders pointed out that the domestic heavy-duty truck market has entered an adjustment period, and competition will become increasingly fierce in 2022. Full-year sales will decline further, conservatively estimated at 1 million to 1.1 million units. For all enterprises, they should seize new opportunities such as new energy and intelligent network heavy trucks, and seek development and survival in the stage of stock competition.
