IT Home February 8 news, according to foreign media OC3D reported that Toshiba has confirmed that they plan to release 30TB mechanical hard disk in fiscal year 2023, and release larger models in the next few years.
IT House learned that the new high-capacity HDD will use technologies such as FC-MAMR (Flux Control - Microwave Assisted Magnetic Recording) and MAS-MAMR (Microwave Assisted Switching - Microwave Assisted Magnetic Recording). In the future, Toshiba may use HAMR (ThermalLy Assisted Magnetic Recording) technology in its largest drives. According to the roadmap, Toshiba will also release 35TB HDDs in fiscal year 2025 and models over 40TB after fiscal year 2026.
Toshiba said in a press release that Toshiba offers a comprehensive portfolio of HDD products that meet the storage needs of enterprise, data center, surveillance and customer markets. Toshiba addresses customer storage needs in four market segments: the AL Series focuses on enterprise performance; the MG Series addresses enterprise capacity and data center needs; the MQ Series addresses the HDD needs of mobile clients; and the DT Series addresses monitoring and traditional desktop client needs.
