Toshiba's current 18TB hard drives for nearline storage are reportedly the MG09 series, with FC-MAMR technology and 9 platters filled with helium. The MG10 series of FC-MAMR Technology 10 discs has now been validated by SATA interoperability and has a capacity of 20TB. In addition to enterprise-class products, the HDD lineup includes the MN10 for NAS and the MD10 for desktops.

IT House recently reported that Toshiba has confirmed plans to release 30TB mechanical hard drives in fiscal year 2023 and larger models in the next few years. The new high-capacity HDD will use technologies such as FC-MAMR (Flux Control - Microwave Assisted Magnetic Recording) and MAS-MAMR (Microwave Assisted Switching - Microwave Auxiliary Magnetic Recording). In the future, Toshiba may use HAMR (ThermalLy Assisted Magnetic Recording) technology in its largest drives. According to the roadmap, Toshiba will also release 35TB HDDs in fiscal year 2025 and models over 40TB after fiscal year 2026.
