In addition to the world's first SMR 26TB and CMR 22TB mechanical hard drives, Western Digital today also released a new top-of-the-line SSD Ultrastar DC SN650 with a capacity of up to 15.36TB.
For large data center customers, the Western SN650 SSD is equipped with a next-generation BiCS5 3D TLC flash memory chip that supports PCIe 4.0 and NVMe.
It also adopts the master control and firmware developed by WSM, and optimizes it vertically.
Two form styles are available, one is a 2.5-inch, U.3 interface, and the other is a longer and thinner E1.L shaped like a "big knife", both of which have a maximum capacity of 15.36TB.
More details such as performance, longevity, functions, etc. have not yet been announced.
The Western Digital SN650 has already sent samples and will be mass-produced in the second half of the year.
