I've been tossing and turning 4K gaming monitors lately, so why say gaming monitors? Because it is mainly aimed at game users. It's not just a random display, it's a gaming monitor. Recently, the price of graphics cards is slowly returning to normal, which also gives me a hint of luxury of replacing graphics cards. I hope to change the 3080 graphics card this year, but its price is still not very beautiful, so I have to wait and so on.
Today I will use gigabyte M28U, a 4K 144Hz monitor, and rainbow 2060S graphics card, to experience several of the more popular game masterpieces. They are Eldon's Ring of Law, Cyberpunk 2077 and Forza Horizon 4.

In terms of display interface, from left to right, there are headphone jacks, two HDMI 2.1 interfaces, Display port 1.4 (DSC) interfaces, USB Type C interfaces (supporting 18W output), USB Type B interfaces, and three USB3.0 interfaces. This is a 4K 144Hz display, if you want to successfully open this mode, you must use HDMI line version 2.1, or use DP line version 1.4. I personally recommend the DP line, relatively convenient, basically there is no problem of picking the line. As for the HDMI cable, there is some trouble, I use the HDMI version 2.1 line that comes with the monitor, I can't smoothly open the 4K 144Hz mode, I can only open the 4K 60Hz mode, and then turn it on smoothly after changing to the DP cable.
First use the game plus software to do a simple test, in the 4K 144Hz mode, the "God of War" score is 5493, and only the special effects can be turned on to play smoothly. The Vanishing Light 2: Battle Between Man and Ren has a score of 4649, and can only be played smoothly by turning on low-to-medium special effects. As for pubic survival, the score is 5486, and the game can only be played smoothly by turning on the special effects. It can be seen that the 2060S graphics card in my hand can no longer meet the needs of 4K 144Hz displays.
Forza Horizon 4 is a very good racing game with very beautiful graphics. Set the resolution of the game to 4K, then set its refresh rate to 144Hz, set the image quality to the highest, and turn on all the options that can be turned on.
Through testing, it was found that the game "Forza Horizon 4" has an average frame count of 47 frames at a 4K 144Hz setting, which is not very smooth and can be played on the spot. If you want to run smoothly, you can only reduce the image quality.
The game "Eldon's Ring of Law" is locked in the PC version of 60 refresh rate, although this limit can be cracked by some operations, but I still press the game default settings, and I will not crack it. Set the resolution of the game to 4K and other effects to the highest.
Through the game plus software recording, it was found that the game "Eldon Law Ring" in the 4K 60Hz setting, the average frame number of 40 frames, is still not very smooth, can be played.
Finally, it is to test the game "Cyberpunk 2077", which can be said to be the most expensive graphics card in the monitor experience, the reason is that there is light chasing, I have to say that light chasing eats graphics cards too much. First set the resolution of the game to 4K, the refresh rate is set to 144Hz, and then directly exit the black screen during the test, and the game program error occurs.
I could only turn off the light chase, this time it was fine, there was no problem during the test.
After the test is completed, you can see that the data on the number of frames in the game is miserable, the average frame number is only 12.55, and it is impossible to play the game normally, and I have to say that the requirements of this game on the graphics card are very high. If you want to run this game smoothly, you can only reduce the picture quality. And the optimization of this game is not very good, in the process of the game, it is also frequent error reporting.
Through the 4K 144Hz experience of three mainstream games, I found that some games, if you want to really experience the highest picture quality, 4K 144Hz charm, feel at least have to use a 3080 graphics card, if you open the light chase, even 3090Ti this level of graphics card to do. Therefore, although 4K games are good, if you want to play the game, in addition to having a good 4K game monitor, you must also have a good flagship graphics card. As for using the 2060S graphics card in my hand, don't think about using it in the highest quality.
