2025 Monitor Showdown: The King of the Office VS the Game Overlord

Foreword: Why I tested these two monitors

Dear display purchase difficulties, hello everyone! As a veteran display "obsessive" who has evaluated 37 monitors and replied to 42,000 purchase questions, today I am here to "waste" everyone's time again!

Have you ever faced a dazzling array of display catalogs and felt like you were lost in the "display garden"? Should you choose a high-definition, delicate, color-accurate office weapon, or a responsive, refreshed gaming machine? Today, we are going to have a real showdown: Redmi's Office Elite A27U Type-C Edition VS ASUS TUF GAMING VG27AQML1A!

Disclaimer: I am neither Xiaomi's "rice fan" nor ASUS's "Republic of Gamers", this review is absolutely neutral, only to provide you with the most practical reference. After all, no one wants to spend thousands of dollars to buy back a "regret screen", right?

Round 1: Exterior Design (Who is more "eye-catching")

Redmi A27U: Three-sided micro-bezel design, simple and atmospheric, looks like an elite person wearing a black haute couture suit. The stand is fully adjusted, lifting, rotating, and pitching, and it is as flexible as a yoga master. What surprised me the most was the snap-on back cover design, which perfectly solved my "phobia" of cluttered cables.

ASUS TUF: Typical gaming style, but without too many flashy design elements, like a low-key but ready boxer. The ergonomic stand also supports multi-angle adjustment, and although it looks a little "strong", the stability is really top-notch.

Round 1 Review: The Redmi is better suited to a minimalist desk, while the Asus is better suited to incorporate into the gaming battle station. This round is a draw, because the appearance of this thing, just like the object of your first love, is all based on personal preference.

Round 2: Picture quality performance (whose "face" is more exquisite)

Redmi A27U: 4K resolution (3840×2160) is simply a paradise for word processing and picture editing. △The color accuracy of E<1 makes me sigh: it turns out that the world I saw before was "fake"! With 1.07 billion colors plus 100% sRGB and 95% DCI-P3 color gamut coverage, it's like discovering a new continent for designers.

ASUS TUF: 2K resolution (2560×1440) isn't as detailed as 4K, but it's still crisp and lovely on a 27-inch screen. The 100% sRGB color gamut coverage is more than enough for the gaming experience, and the HDR400 certification makes the lighting and shadow effects of the gaming world even more stunning. The Fast IPS panel is indeed faster than ordinary IPS, and the picture smoothness is touching.

Round 2 Comments: If you are a professional who handles documents, watches movies, or does design, Redmi's 4K high color accuracy is definitely your dish; If you're primarily gaming, the ASUS 2K configuration is actually more balanced. In this round, everyone takes what they want, and there is no absolute winner.

Round 3: Performance Showdown (Whose "Internal Strength" is Stronger)

Redmi A27U: 60Hz refresh rate is enough for an office, but for gamers it's like driving a tractor to an F1 race. The 6ms response time is decent for an office monitor, but there may be a slight smear when gaming. However, the Type-C port that supports 90W reverse charging is simply a blessing for notebook users - the three words "one-line communication" have finally made my desktop say goodbye to the "spaghetti" state.

ASUS TUF: Overclocking to a 260Hz refresh rate makes me wonder if my eyes can keep up. The 1ms GTG response time is simply tailor-made for esports players. ELMB-SYNC technology (Motion Picture Clarity and Adaptive Sync work at the same time) makes the picture smooth and clear, and when playing games, it is as smooth as opening a plug-in. However, the lack of a Type-C port is a small pity.

Round 3 Review: In the performance round, the two monitors are like creatures from two different planets. Redmi focuses on the office experience, while ASUS is built for gaming. Gamers should choose ASUS, and office workers should choose Redmi.

Round 4: Features (Whose "talent" is more diverse)

Redmi A27U:

  • Multi-screen color-on-color technology makes working across devices more accurate
  • Xiaomi Tsingshan Eye Care Solution (S++ Certified) makes it less painful to work overtime on the screen
  • The USB HUB feature makes it easy to connect your peripherals
  • The distribution of color cards is simply the "candy" of professional users

ASUS TUF:

  • GamePlus shortcuts provide game assistance features such as crosshairs, timers, and more
  • Shadow Boost technology makes it easy to spot opponents hiding in the shadows in the game
  • Seven preset display modes to suit different game types
  • DisplayWidget Center software makes adjusting your display simple and intuitive

Round 4 Review: Redmi's features are biased towards improving productivity and eyesight, while Asus is focused on improving the gaming experience. This round also has its own characteristics, and it is difficult to distinguish between them.

Round 5: Is it worth buying (cost-effective ultimate PK)

Redmi A27U: 4K resolution, professional-grade color accuracy, 90W reverse charging Type-C interface, three-year warranty (on-site service to replace repair), these configurations are at least 30% more expensive in other brands. For users who need to work with a lot of documents, design or video editing frequently, this monitor is like a professional tool for the "cabbage price".

ASUS TUF: 260Hz refresh rate, 1ms response time, multiple sync technologies, ELMB-SYNC, these gaming features are very rare in monitors in this price range. If you're a gaming enthusiast, especially a fan of competitive gaming, this monitor will definitely give you a head start in gaming (of course, you'll have to practice the technique yourself).

Round 5 Review: According to their respective positioning, both monitors offer value beyond the price. Redmi is suitable for office, design, and video workers; ASUS is suitable for gamers and esports enthusiasts. In this round, it ended in a draw!

Final Verdict: Who to Choose?

After five rounds of intense matchup, we found that the two monitors have their own strengths and are indistinguishable. The final choice depends on your use case:

Choose the Redmi A27U if you:

  • Frequently work with documents, forms, or design work
  • Precise color reproduction is required
  • Likes to solve all problems with one Type-C cable
  • I want to reduce the fatigue of long-term eye use

Choose ASUS TUF if you:

  • It's a game lover, especially a competitive gamer
  • Pursue the smoothest gaming experience
  • Every detail needs to be seen in the game
  • Hopefully, the monitor will adjust to your playstyle

Remember, there is no such thing as the best monitor, only the one that works best for you. Just like choosing a partner, what suits you is the best!

PS: At the time of writing this review, I'm writing an article on a Redmi monitor while the ASUS monitor next to me is running Cyberpunk 2077 at a high speed. That's right, I bought both of them because...... Wallets are meant to be emptied, aren't they? (Here is a wry smile)
