Mechanical hard drive too toothpaste! Toshiba will be 30TB next year and over 40TB four years later

According to this roadmap, Toshiba will push the hard disk capacity to 26TB this year, and it seems that it will first use the MAS-MAMR (Microwave Assisted Switching Microwave Auxiliary Magnetic Recording) technology just disclosed a few days ago, or it may be a mature FC-MAMR, 10 disc package.

Next year will break the 30TB mark, which is undoubtedly based on MAS-MAMR, and for the first time, it will be in an 11-disc package with a single disc capacity of 2.7TB.

Western Digital also mentioned an 11-disc package last year, but the total capacity is only 24TB, and the single disc is only 2.2TB.

In 2025, Toshiba hard disks will reach 35TB, introducing HAMR (Thermal Assisted Magnetic Recording) technology, multi-stacking technology, and will exceed 10TB in 2026 or later.

It should be noted that what is said here is an enterprise-grade hard disk for the data center market, and consumer-grade products will definitely be slower.
