Tie Ning, chairman of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles and chairman of the China Writers Association, and Zhang Hongsen, secretary of the party leading group and vice chairman of the China Writers Association, respectively expressed deep condolences for Zhang Jie's death and expressed deep condolences to Zhang Jie's relatives. In its condolence telegram, the Chinese Writers Association expressed its high respect for Zhang Jie's outstanding contributions to contemporary Chinese literature.
Zhang Jie is an important representative writer of Chinese literature in the new era, and joined the Chinese Writers Association in 1979. In 1981, he was transferred to the Beijing Municipal Federation of Literature and Became a Professional Writer. In January of the same year, the short story collection "Hope", published by the Sichuan People's Publishing House, included the short story "Love, Cannot Be Forgotten". In April 2012, the People's Literature Publishing House published eleven volumes of Zhang Jie's Collected Writings: the first volume of "Heavy Wings", the second volume of "Only One Sun", the third volume of "No Words" (the first part), the fourth volume of "No Words" (the second part), the fifth volume of "No Words" (the third part), the sixth volume of "Zhi Zai", the seventh volume "The soul is used to wander", the eighth volume "Four Dogs Waiting to Be Fed", the ninth volume "The Man Who Hurt Me the Most In the World Went", the tenth volume "Short story volume", the eleventh volume "Prose Essay Volume".
Works such as "Love Cannot Be Forgotten" and "The Man Who Hurt Me the Most In the World" have had a great influence on readers. Zhang Jie won the second Mao Dun Literature Award for her novel "Heavy Wings" written in 1981. In 2004, she won the Mao Dun Literature Award again for "Wordless", becoming the first and only writer to win the Mao Dun Literature Award twice.
In her later years, Zhang Jie lived abroad most of the time and spent a lot of time painting. In her self-description for the exhibition, Zhang Jie explained her experience of learning to paint this way: "A doctor's accidental suggestion, I began to paint in 2006. Like writing a novel, it is also self-talk (painting), never learned, for the first time I don't even know how to get a paintbrush, only a cavity of love. Zhang Jie said that she has a twist of the strands, to identify, like the things, a road to the black, "I don't know how many so-called paintings were torn, in order to take out such a little thing to hand over." ”
In October 2014, at the age of 77, Zhang Jie held her solo oil painting exhibition at the Museum of Modern Literature in Beijing. This was her first oil painting exhibition in Beijing, but she said it was her "farewell performance" – "Zhang Jie said goodbye!" ”
According to Beijing Daily, on the day of the exhibition on October 22, many writers and Zhang Jie's friends came to help her exhibition. In front of her friends, Zhang Jie said: "Many people say the word forever, but I know now that it never exists. The back wave of the Yangtze River pushes the front wave. I have been looking forward to a formal occasion to explain my heart, today my mother's family, many friends of the Beijing Writers Association have also come, I can just show my heart. Today is the opening of my exhibition and indeed my farewell performance. The last thing I'm going to say is that I've got a lawyer to make a will. Inside my will, I wrote: No memorial service after my death, no commemorative articles, no articles that remember me, and no memorials to me. ”
Li Jingze, vice chairman of the China Writers Association and a well-known literary critic, also wrote an article entitled "Notes on Zhang Jie's Painting Exhibition", in which he wrote, "I don't know whether Zhang Jie's paintings are good or not. All I saw in the painting entitled "Twilight" was the little beast—who knows, maybe the beast wasn't small, but the world was big—and the beast stood on its side, as if it had suddenly stopped in its run, because the sunset in the sky was high, like an incandescent, transparent opening, and under the setting sun, it was a rolling mountain or cloud of black gray and white, and the wild horses were also dusty, rushing on the horizon. The beast, stopped. Don't think this is a metaphor —I'd be too stupid to say that the beast is Zhang Jie. Zhang Jie may just look at it from a distance with mixed feelings. Later, in another painting, I concluded that I approached it, and it turned out to be a leopard, so young and gorgeous, so fierce, proud and delicate, that it occupied the center of the picture, looking back, but without looking at anything, it was completely trapped in its own depths. Who is this? I don't know. ...... That is our beloved and aweed Zhang Jie, the Zhang Jie who holds his chin high to the world, the Zhang Jie who has roses and guns in his eyes, the Zhang Jie who is as humble as a grain of dust ready to forget and be forgotten at any time, the Zhang Jie who stands on the ground and floats in the sky stained by the deep blue, the child who is destined to run and is destined to be lonely..."
