The number of mathematical thinking enlightenment is more than just 1.2.3

Following the previous article to today and many days, I found that I had no way to insist on updating, on the one hand, I worked for reasons, on the other hand, my ability was limited, so I was updating intermittently.

These two days with friends chatted about children's mathematical enlightenment ideas and part of the practice, friends have suggested that these "bits and pieces" methods are written out first, wait until a certain time to sort out, maybe there will be unexpected gains, then try it, welcome to shoot bricks ...

Today we will talk about "Counting This Thing", everyone likes to listen to young children count, cute. In fact, children themselves also like to sing numbers, on the one hand, they like the language patterns and rhythms when singing numbers, on the other hand, they can get recognition and praise from their parents or teachers.

Counting has almost become a part of young children's daily lives. They like to count everything. Fruit and fruit do hours also like to count: for example, when going up and down the stairs, counting the stairs, every time you walk a step to count, you will unconsciously follow him to count, which almost becomes a link that our father and son must do when they go up and down the stairs, or for example, when waiting for traffic lights, when they see the traffic lights, they will be very happy to start counting down with the timer; there are many more..., I, the child and the fruit mother are happy to be loyal to this, but in fact, what is counting, what do you need to understand? Overcounting, what does the child already know and what else needs to be learned,...... Neither I nor My Mother Guo have seriously thought about these questions, and I don't know if other Parents and Mothers have thought about them. When I wrote the article today, I carefully asked myself these questions, only to find that counting only seems very simple, but it is actually very complicated. If you can deeply understand what counting is, and what kind of counting should be emphasized in the process of children's counting enlightenment, parents can promote the development of children's counting ability and counting thinking ability.

There are two types of counting: mechanical counting and understanding counting.

1) Mechanical counting refers to the recitation of number words, many babies can start from 1, 2, 3, 4... Recite until 100, 200, or even thousands, which means that he can mechanically count, prepare to count to 100, etc.;

2) Understanding numbers refers to being able to correspond each number to the corresponding object. For example, if the baby sees a group of lambs, or points at the lambs and says", "1 lamb, 2 lambs, 3 lambs", it means that the baby's ability to understand and count has developed to an exact number.

Accurate mechanical counting has a certain role in the learning process of young children's counting, but its role is limited. Only when the baby's ability to understand numbers lags behind, they master the basic tools for understanding the concept of numbers, can compare the quantities between different items in subsequent learning, and even perform number calculations to solve practical problems. Therefore, understanding counting is the basis for the baby's subsequent learning. ——Therefore, it is more recommended that parents strengthen their understanding of counting guidance and training.

How to support the development of your baby's ability to understand numbers? Erikson's child development research experts offer two core concepts:

1) "Counting can be used to determine the number of quantities in a set", which actually answers the purpose of counting. In other words, why count, because by counting we can know the number of items in a collection. This collection could be people in the house, stairs, chairs, fruits, etc.

2) "The basic principles of counting (the principle of fixed order, the principle of one-to-one correspondence, the principle of order agnosticity, and the principle of cardinality) are used in any set", if babies can apply these principles in counting activities, they have mastered the skill of rational counting.

PS: Fixed order principle: the order between numbers and numbers is unchanged, that is, 1, 2, 3、......

One-to-one correspondence principle: when counting, a number corresponds to an object;

Cardinality principle: the value of counting to the last number represents the number of the elements contained in this set, for example, when counting steps, counting to the last one is 11, indicating that there are 11 steps;

Order-independent principle: The number is independent of where it begins. For example, counting steps from top to bottom, and counting from bottom to top, the result is unchanged.
