The emergence of Yingge can be traced back to the middle of the Ming Dynasty, when folk songs and dances were already very active, and folk often used to worship gods, swim gods, temple fairs or entertain themselves. Zhou Shuoxun, the prefect of Chaozhou in the Qianlong Dynasty of the Qing Dynasty, wrote in volume 12 "Customs" of the Chaozhou Fuzhi: "Dozens of generations of farmers in the spring, planting seedlings in the fields, ordering people to beat the drums, each drum is a tour, the group song is competing, and the days are endless, and the name is called the rice song." To this day, the Freehand action of "Butian" (that is, planting seedlings) is still retained in the Yingge dance, and the flag of the Yingge team is still marked as "Yangge Team". The sound of "Yang" and "Ying" is close, and the folk circulation is gradually changed to "English Song". This is the earliest written record of the origin of the name of the Song of Songs (English Songs) that can be found in the zhishu to date.
