Chaozhou Raoping Buma dance legend began in the late Song Dynasty and early Yuan, when a pottery master from Raozhou (present-day Shangrao City, Jiangxi) came to Raoping to teach pottery, because of the legend of the Song Gaozong Zhao constructing mud horses to cross the river, and raozhou folk to commemorate the Wen Tianxiang high school champion, with the costume of the shape of the bronze horse for the public to watch, so the folk dance about the horse was choreographed as a program.

Performed during the Spring Festival, Lantern Festival and various celebrations in the area of Nine Villages (present-day Xinfeng Town, Raoping), it gradually evolved into the Buma Dance and spread to all parts of Raoping County, and is now mainly distributed in xinfeng, Huanggang and other townships in the county.

Later, in the inheritance, it was increased to 20 horses, and the dance "CilangZhou" was even increased to a grand lineup of 24 horses to show the tragic and exciting martial arts scenes.

The movements of the Buma dance mainly include "shaking the whip and walking the horse", "jumping and turning", "whipping and longitudinal jumping", "raising the whip and running the horse", etc. The queue graphics have "long snake opening the array", "breaking through the four doors", "passing flowers and weaving ropes", "pink butterfly picking flowers" and other styles, among which the formations such as "Qiankun Barrier", "Double Bagua Array", "Jumping Moon Walking Edge", "Double Dragon Swinging Tail" and so on can be changed, and with the flexibility and changeability of dance movements and formation composition, it presents a picture of the unity of people and horses, the galloping of horses, and the mighty and majestic artistic picture.

The musical accompaniment of the Rao Ping Buma Dance has evolved from the early Han music big eight-tone gong and drum with the big sigh, to the Chaozhou big gong and drum with orchestral music, and the Use of Chao Music music cards. With up to 47 or 55 members, the spectacular line-up is a major feature.
