This long scroll includes three major themes of ice and snow culture, Spring Festival culture, and Great Wall culture, starting from the Temple of Heaven in Beijing and going all the way to Chongli, Hebei Province, which contains 12 groups of buildings, 12 Winter Olympic events, 12 traditional winter sports in the north, and 2022 figures.
"At that time, Beijing was still bidding for the 2022 Winter Olympics, so we gave this long scroll to the Winter Olympic Bidding Committee, and they took it to the bidding site in Kuala Lumpur. Later, Beijing's bid for the 2022 Winter Olympics was successful, and they said that our long scroll can also be regarded as a meritorious achievement! For this bid for the Winter Olympics, Marco Qiang is also very proud.
As the Winter Olympics approached, in 2021, Marco Qiang had another idea to present the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics again. "The International Olympic Committee has a total of 206 member countries and regions, so we wondered if we could use traditional Chinese painting to paint the national flowers and famous flowers of various countries and show the beauty of the flowers of various countries." Ma Keqiang said that the reason for choosing the flower theme is mainly because the flowers are not related to any political and religious colors, and the young and old are suitable, and everyone sees that the flowers are in a good mood.
Soon, they organized more than 60 well-known flower and bird painters across the country, and for the approval of flowers in various countries, they also specially hired flower experts to check and strictly determine 206 kinds of flowers. In the creation, it is necessary to take into account the traditional Chinese painting techniques, such as gongbi, freehand, boneless, small freehand and other traditional techniques, but the main technique is still based on the gongbi.
It took about three months, more than 60 painters have completed the creation of flowers, 206 paintings have been completed, named "The Flower of Olympic Art", hoping to use the beauty of art and the beauty of flowers to "add flowers" to the Olympic culture, show the realm of the world family of "each beautiful, beautiful and together", and use the hundred flowers of the world to bless the complete success of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.
The participating painters are very supportive of Marco Qiang's "Winter Olympics" idea, which is not enough, they are planning the next step, hoping to organize painters across the country to create for more than 90 cities that have hosted the Olympic Games. Marco Qiang thinks that this matter is also very meaningful, and they have already had a certain foundation.
"In 2007, we organized 200 famous painters from all over the country to paint United Nations works, that is, 192 member states and 8 international organizations."
