Recently, the domestic media learned from Dongfeng Nissan dealers that the brand plans to introduce a medium-sized SUV Pathfinder developed for the North American market within the year, and the new car may be launched at the end of the year.
Since its release in 1985, Pathfinder has experienced 5 generations of models, and its model positioning has gradually transformed from a hardcore off-road vehicle that initially focused on performance to a medium-sized SUV with excellent space performance and rich configurations. The current Pathfinder, which was officially released in 2021, shares the Nissan D platform with the Infiniti QX60.
In terms of appearance, the current Pathfinder also adopts the design language of the Japanese product brand "V-Motion", and the tough and resolute lines of the front part of the car are very in line with the public's cognition of a medium and large SUV. The hidden D-pillar on the side of the car and the suspended roof together reduce the visual heaviness of the car. In terms of size, the length, width and height of the fifth-generation Pathfinder reached 5004*1961*1768mm, and the wheelbase was 2900mm, which was at the same level as volkswagen Tuon, Buick Encore and other models.
Compared with the QX60's exquisitely selected surround-type central control design on the same platform, Pathfinder's interior is obviously much simpler. The three-spoke steering wheel and the central touchscreen towering in the middle of the center console are the interior features of the current Nissan models. In terms of configuration, including the localized Dongfeng Nissan smart car and the driver assistance system called the Nissan Safey Shield 360 kit (including active braking, lane departure warning, rear traffic warning, blind spot warning, reverse automatic braking and active high-range lighting) are expected to be absent. At present, Pathfinder's overseas models use 2+2+3 seat layouts.
In terms of power, the Pathfinder North American model is equipped with a 3.5L V-6 cylinder engine with a maximum power of 212 kW (288 hp) / 6400 rpm and a maximum torque of 351 Nm / 4800 rpm, matching a 9-speed automatic transmission from ZF. According to domestic dealers, it is expected that domestic models will be equipped with 2.0T engines and will continue to be equipped with ZF's 9-speed automatic transmission. In addition, the current overseas four-wheel drive model is equipped with a set of intelligent four-wheel drive system with seven modes (standard, sports, economic, snow, gravel, mud and drag).
Previously, only a small amount of Nissan Pathfinder flowed into the domestic market through channels such as foreign-owned and parallel imports, but due to high prices and low recognition, the car failed to make waves in the domestic market. In the future, whether the domestic Pathfinder can add another fire to the domestic hot medium and large SUV market, let us wait and see.
