Recently, the latest member of the Volkswagen MEB family, ID.5, has officially rolled off the production line at Volkswagen's Zwickau plant in Germany. This indicates that the new car is about to be launched in Europe, and according to the previously announced pre-price, the basic Pro specification of the new car starts at 46,515 euros (about 333,700 yuan). Previously, the Volkswagen ID.5 was first unveiled in August last year, and landed at the Guangzhou Auto Show in November to meet domestic consumers for the first time, and in the future, it may be sold domestically through imports.

In terms of appearance, you can think of ID.5 as a coupe version of ID.4, and its front face basically continues the family design of Volkswagen's previous ID. series, but the coupe-style slipback shape is adopted on the back of the body, which also makes the wind resistance coefficient as low as 0.26 (GTX is 0.27), thereby further increasing the vehicle's range.

In terms of power, Volkswagen offers three power options for the ID.5, of which the regular version is the ID.5 Pro (46,515 euros) equipped with a rear-drive single motor system with a maximum power of 128 kW, while the ID.5 Pro performance version (47,550 euros) has a maximum power of 150 kW; and finally Volkswagen also launched a pure electric four-wheel drive version of the ID.5 GTX model (53,615 euros), with a maximum power of 220 kW. Accelerates from 6.3 seconds to 100 km/h and is limited to 180 km/h. A progressive steering system (optional) is also available, which allows the steering gear ratio to be set more directly and the wheel angles more direct as the steering wheel turns.

Stefan Loth, Executive Governance Chairman of Volkswagen Saxony, said: "The commissioning of the ID.5 marks a successful transformation of the Zwickau plant in terms of products, and this year we aim to exceed 180,000 vehicles produced in 2021. "With the successful mass production of the ID.5 at the Zwickau plant in Germany, the new car is about to be launched in Europe, and it will also be launched in North America and the Chinese market, so let's look forward to it."
