Renault, Nissan and Mitsubishi held an alliance digital conference today to announce their common goals and investments in the electrification transformation.

Key information:

Over the next five years, the three companies will jointly invest 25 billion euros in electrification;

The goal is to increase the utilization rate of the GM platform from 60% to 80% of the 90 models by 2026; by 2030, 35 new pure electric models will be released, of which 90% will be developed based on 5 GM electric vehicle platforms;

At present, the alliance only has two electric platforms, CMF-EV and CMF-AEV, and a new CMF-BEV platform will be launched in 2024;

By 2030, the number of models developed based on CMF-EV will be expanded from 2 to more than 15, covering 5 major brands, and production is expected to reach 1.5 million units per year;

In terms of batteries, the alliance aims to reduce battery costs by 50% by 2026 and 65% by 2028. Nissan is currently working on the development of all-solid-state batteries, and is expected to mass-produce in 2028, when the production costs of electric vehicles and fuel vehicles will be basically flat;

Through expansion, we aim to achieve a global battery production capacity of 220GWh by 2030;

In terms of intelligence, Renault will develop a new centralized electrical and electronic architecture, and at the same time, the alliance will take the lead in introducing the Google ecosystem;

The first full software-defined vehicle is expected to be launched by 2025.
