On October 14, the all-new Renault MASTER H2-Tech prototype was unveiled at the 2024 Paris Motor Show. The car is based on the fourth-generation Renault MASTER model and is equipped with a hydrogen powertrain, with a maximum range of 700 kilometers in WLTP mode and a hydrogen refueling time of just 5 minutes. It is reported that the all-new Renault MASTER H2-Tech prototype is being developed by HYVIA, a hydrogen fuel joint venture established by Renault Group and Plug Power, and the production version is scheduled to be launched in the European market by the end of 2025.

The all-new Renault MASTER is manufactured at Renault's plant in Batilly, France, and is currently available in both internal combustion engine and pure electric versions, and the hydrogen version will be co-produced with other power versions and will also be sold through Renault's dealer network in the future.

The all-new Renault MASTER is electric

Based on the official pictures, the new Renault MASTER H2-Tech prototype has the same exterior design style as the fuel version and pure electric version, with a large waterfall grille on the front face, and the trim strip running through the middle grille is replaced with blue to reflect the power characteristics of the hydrogen energy model. It is also highly recognizable by the C-shaped daytime running light strips on both sides, and there are also two fog lamps in the lower front bumper.

The new Renault MASTER H2-Tech prototype still adopts a square shape on the sides and rear to ensure interior space, and the longitudinally arranged tail light clusters adopt a new light cavity structure. It is reported that the new Renault MASTER H2-Tech prototype will be available in vans, flatbed trucks and pure chassis versions, which can be derived from ambulances, refrigerated transport trucks, aerial work platforms and other professional models.

The interior layout of the all-new Renault MASTER H2-Tech prototype has not yet been revealed, but officials say that a dedicated multimedia system will be developed for this car to enable users to manage energy more intuitively.

The all-new Renault MASTER H2-Tech prototype features a hydrogen powertrain with a "dual power" architecture, powered by a 47 kWh fuel cell and a 20 kWh conventional battery. The vehicle has a maximum range of 700 km in WLTP mode, and the refueling time is only 5 minutes, which is comparable to the conventional refueling time of conventional internal combustion engine-powered vehicles. Depending on the model, the new car will be offered with two hydrogen storage systems, 7.5 kg and 9 kg.

According to official information, by the end of 2024, the total number of hydrogen refueling stations in European cities will be close to 200, and the HYWELL hydrogen refueling network developed by HYVIA in cooperation with partner Atawey is also under construction.
