On January 27, Nandu reporters learned from the State Administration for Market Regulation that Tianjin FAW Toyota Motor Co., Ltd. and GAC Toyota Motor Co., Ltd. decided to recall some vehicles from March 25, 2022. Among them, Tianjin FAW Toyota Motor Co., Ltd. recalled some Corolla vehicles produced between March 23, 2020 and July 2, 2021, for a total of 162301 vehicles. GAC Toyota Motor Co., Ltd. recalls a total of 161614 Leiling vehicles manufactured between April 8, 2020 and November 19, 2021.
According to the official website of the State Administration for Market Regulation, due to the manufacturing problem of the engine ignition coil, the vehicles within the scope of this recall have deviated from the size of the 1-stage coil bracket inside some ignition coils, and the 1-level coil may be in contact with the central iron core, and the insulation between the copper wire and the central iron core in the coil is reduced. In extreme cases, the operation of the engine may cause a short circuit in the 1-stage coil and the central iron core, so that the fuse is fused, cutting off the power supply of the spark plug, causing the vehicle to stop during driving, increasing the risk of accidents in the vehicle, and there is a safety hazard.
Tianjin FAW Toyota Motor Co., Ltd. and GAC Toyota Motor Co., Ltd. will replace the modified ignition coils free of charge for vehicles within the scope of the recall to eliminate safety hazards.
