Today, the Information Office of the Provincial Government held a press conference on the import and export of foreign trade in Hunan Province in 2021 in Changsha. According to the news released at the meeting, in 2021, the total import and export value of the province will be 598.85 billion yuan, approaching the 600 billion yuan mark for the first time.
In 2021, the total import and export value of the province increased by 22.6% compared with 2020. In recent years, the scale of Hunan foreign trade has shown a leapfrog development trend. In 2017, it exceeded 200 billion yuan, in 2018 it exceeded 300 billion yuan, in 2019 it exceeded 400 billion yuan, and in 2021 it crossed the 500 billion yuan mark, close to 600 billion yuan, with an average annual growth rate of 25.2%, ranking first in the country.
ASEAN, the United States and the European Union are The top three trading partners of Hunan. Hunan's imports and exports to Latin America, Africa, members of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (RCEP) agreement and countries along the "Belt and Road" have maintained a rapid growth trend.
The structure of import and export commodities continues to be optimized. In terms of exports, in 2021, Hunan exported mechanical and electrical products accounted for more than 40% of the province's total foreign trade value; the export of "home economy" products such as notebook computers, tablet PCs, and household appliances increased by 79.8%. In terms of imports, the import of upstream manufacturing equipment required by Hunan manufacturing industry, especially the integrated circuit industry, increased significantly, with imported semiconductor manufacturing equipment reaching 6.54 billion yuan, an increase of 137.6%.
