The ordinary road

My hometown is in a small village called Zhongbao, five or six miles from the county seat. Turn a corner from the wide highway, walk across a river embankment, and you're home. This embankment, which is about one kilometer long, is the only way to enter and exit the village. On one side of the embankment is a small river and on the other side is aqueduct.

The river embankment is narrow, formerly a loess pavement, lined with gentle slopes covered with grass and wildflowers, where the children of the village often herd cattle. With the improvement of farmers' living standards, more people in the village bought cars, and the road was transformed into a cement road. Because it is a river embankment, the road cannot be widened, only enough for two small cars to pass side by side, and it is difficult for larger off-road vehicles to drive on this road.

In order to prevent the river embankment from collapsing on both sides, the villagers planted many trees on the gentle slopes on both sides, including pine trees, fir trees, camphor, laughter, osmanthus flowers, paulownia, etc.; also planted some flower seedlings, such as Yingchun, purple jasmine, dill, chrysanthemum, etc.; idle open space, villagers opened it up and planted vegetables. More than ten years have passed, and the trees on both sides have become timbered, tall and lush. The trees on the gentle slopes are densely packed like small forests, attracting many birds and finches and small animals to nest here, birds singing on the road, and from time to time you will see small squirrels and hedgehogs.

My wife and I are both teachers, busy at work, and after giving birth to our young son, we moved to our hometown and lived with our parents. My wife and I love this road, it is so beautiful, the road is flat, there are trees on both sides, it is water, the air is fresh, and the negative oxygen ion content is high. I like to take my youngest son for a walk on this road and teach him some flowers, trees, vegetables and fruits.

In spring, this road is the most charming, the magnolias on the trees, the deep mountains with smiles, peach blossoms, oil tung flowers, etc., as well as the spring flowers under the trees, purple clouds, purple jasmine, rape flowers, etc., bloom one after another, with bright colors and mellow aromas. In the summer, when walking on the road, the shade comes to the face, and the lush branches and leaves of the big trees on the side of the road set up a natural pergola. In autumn, kudzu flowers dominate with a rich fragrance and purple dreams.

After the fragrance of kudzu disappears, the osmanthus flowers begin to spread the fragrance again. Because most of the trees on the side of the road are evergreen, even in the cold of winter, there are still patches of life that come into your eyes.

The fruit trees on the side of the road are shared by the villagers and can be picked by anyone. When loquat trees, peach trees, and jujube trees are hanging fruit, I will pick a few for my younger son to eat; in late autumn, my wife likes to go to the roadside to pick chestnuts after returning home from work, and then make "chestnut roast meat".

In fact, not only us, but also the old people in the village like to walk on this road; young people invite friends to play at home, and they will also hang out here in groups of three or five.

This road is not only a road for villagers to enter and exit, but also a road for life. Because of the conditions, the villagers could not make the road wide, but they planted green trees and cultivated flowers and grasses beside the road, making the road beautiful and exquisite.

Life is the same, we can't make people's lives wide, rich and expensive is not something that everyone can achieve, but as long as we work hard to operate, plant green trees, cultivate herbs, life will become vivid and wonderful! Wandering among them, the flowers are full of misty eyes, the rich aroma is breathing, the fruits are full of sweet hearts, then, the ordinary life path will also be full of poetry and full of happiness!
