On July 27, 1953, the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea lasted more than two years, and after paying a huge price, the armistice finally ended, and the two sides signed the Korean Armistice Agreement.
But in fact, the agenda of the agreement was already negotiated in June, but it has not yet been signed. However, in the process, the Battle of Jincheng broke out again between the two sides, and this was also the last battle of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea. So since the agreement was reached, why did the Battle of Jincheng suddenly break out?
It is not unusual to say that in the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, sino-US negotiations are actually not unusual. The two sides began negotiations on July 10, 1951, but since then there has been a situation of intermittent fighting and talking for more than two years.
So the situation that preceded the signing was a very normal thing. But the Battle of Jincheng was really not between the United States and the American army, and the volunteers mainly attacked the South Korean army troops in the area south of Jincheng.
The reason why this battle broke out is really related to the signature. Just when the two sides were about to sign an armistice agreement when the negotiations between the two sides were about to be signed, the South Koreans were in a hurry, they were unwilling to stop the war, they were more willing to fight, and even clamored to go it alone.
So they broke the agreement on prisoners of war and forcibly detained more than 27,000 Korean People's Army prisoners (including 50 volunteers) in the name of "local release", forcing them to join the ROK army.
The South Koreans' behavior is mad at the Americans, and as a little brother, they have done such a big thing without notice, and in the face of the advice of the Americans, the Koreans still insist on their own opinions.
In view of this situation, New China decided to postpone the signing of the armistice agreement and give the South Korean army another blow. So the Volunteer Army decided to launch the Battle of Jincheng.
The attitude of the United States at this time is also very delicate, and it is estimated that the volunteers also hope that the volunteers will teach this guy who does not know the height of the sky and is disobedient.
However, the Korean army faced the volunteer army alone, and there was basically no power to fight back. What's more, in order to fight this final battle, the volunteer army, which had let go of its hands and feet, mobilized superior troops and firepower and fought a beautiful battle.
The battle was well prepared, the process was smooth, and the results were obvious - a total of more than 53,000 enemy troops were annihilated, so that Rhee in South Korea completely lost his confidence and had to accept this ending.
Although the armistice was signed and the Battle of Jincheng was over, South Korea still did not sign it.
