In the history of the development of new China, countless heroes have sprinkled their youth and burned their blood for it. However, it is a pity that due to special reasons, some heroes who have fought hard for the lives of new China and made great contributions have been treated unfairly, "lost to the public", and even basic livelihood is difficult to guarantee.
Wang Yanzhou, a former pilot who made outstanding achievements in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, was one of the only two pilots on the mainland who shot down both Japanese aircraft and US flights. During the War of Resistance Against Japan, he flew a fighter jet for the first time on a mission, and shot down a large Japanese transport aircraft, including eight Japanese officers.
In the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, he relied on his superb piloting skills and quick thinking and bold ideas to compete with enemy aircraft in the air, achieved good results, and won a second-class merit. His life can be said to have ups and downs, quite legendary. Although he showed great combat ability during the war and made great contributions to the victory of the war many times, he did not officially join the party until the age of 85.
Moreover, for more than twenty years after the end of the war, he had been living in his hometown, and he usually behaved no differently from the average old farmer, so no one knew that he had ever had such a brilliant time. It was not until 1983, a fortuitous incident, that people were shocked to realize that this taciturn man in his sixties still had such an identity.
When Wang Yan was ten years old on Saturday, the village party secretary pitied him for being old and infirm and unattended, and specially let him go to the brigade headquarters to guard the door, on the one hand, to solve his living problems, on the other hand, it could also be easily seen when he had an emergency. Unexpectedly, it was this accidental help that made him change drastically in his old age.
One day in March 1983, Xia Liangbai, director of the county United Front Work Department, came to their village to conduct research. The village branch secretary invited Xia Liangbai to the brigade headquarters for talks, and asked Wang Yanzhou to boil water for the guests, which made Xia Liangbai subconsciously look at him, and he did not expect to really see something.
He saw that the uncle of boiling water was wearing the pants of an old air force pilot who was basically impossible to flow into the people, and he couldn't help but be curious, just when the village branch secretary had a little understanding of the origin of this uncle, he introduced it to Xia Liangbai. When Xia Liangbai heard it, it was really sad that the hero had now fallen into this situation, knowing that he was implicated in the turmoil of that decade and had lived here in obscurity for so long.
So Xia Liangbai advised him to strive for the treatment he deserved from the original unit, even if he did not think about himself, he could think more about future generations. After Wang Yanzhou was moved by Xia Liangbai, he applied for the restoration of his reputation according to what he said. Finally, as he wished, after his reputation was restored, the state also in accordance with the relevant regulations, he also administered the treatment of retired cadres of the 15th level, and also gave 300 yuan for the settlement fee.
In 2005, the Central Committee invited him to the Great Hall of the People to participate in a symposium to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the victory of the War of Resistance Against Japan, at which the central leaders personally awarded him a commemorative medal. This year, there is another very important thing for him, that is, he officially joined the Communist Party of China at the age of 85 and became a glorious party member, which is his long-awaited wish.
Logically speaking, he made many meritorious contributions in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, and he should have been able to join the party long ago. He was originally a Kuomintang man, and after the end of the War of Resistance Against Japan, he fell into the People's Liberation Army area due to a flight accident and spent a very unforgettable life there.
Through his personal experience and observation, he found that the real Communist Party was very different from the Communist Party in the mouth of the Kuomintang, and with the continuous contact with Communist Party theory, he finally decided to stay in the Communist Party and exert his greater value. However, the delay in joining the party was also caused by various reasons, first encountering the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, then encountering a turbulent decade, missing out on joining the party, and later being sent back to his hometown, and even more unable to join the party, and he has been stuck to this day.
At the age of 85, he not only joined the party, but was also invited to participate in the commemoration of the sixtieth anniversary of the victory of the War of Resistance Against Japan, and the central leaders personally issued commemorative medals, which was a very complete success for him. In 2012, Wang Yanzhou died of illness in Beijing at the age of 92, ending his tortuous life.
Faith in the heart can persist in the hopeless years. Wang Yanzhou always maintained the faith in his heart, in order to persevere in those difficult years, and finally get what he wanted.
