In the later period of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, under the development of the war situation, the 16th Army of the Volunteer Army became the only all-Soviet combined army in the Volunteer Army. This also made the commander of the army, Yin Xianbing, feel that if he did not make some major achievements, he was really sorry for the army configuration in his hands.
So in late July 1953, Yin Xianbing formulated a plan: that is, to let infantry, armored troops and artillery carry out an organic and unified offensive to attack the headquarters of the Us Eighth Army. But friends familiar with history must know that this plan is basically impossible to achieve - not because of the combat effectiveness of the 16th Army, but because of the time. Because at this time, the war on the peninsula is nearing its end. Both sides began to work on negotiations. Therefore, when Yin Xianbing's plan was about to be implemented, the headquarters sent a notice that the war was coming to an end. This made Yin Xianbing very disappointed for a while.
A few days later, however, the 16th Army took part in a battle, but the scale of the battle was small. But even so, Yin Xianbing still said: The will to fight of the volunteer army, with all The Soviet weapons and equipment, will inevitably be invincible in the world.
The former disadvantage of the Volunteer Army
The volunteers entered the peninsula to fight, which lasted for three years. During these three years, the volunteers paid a lot of casualties. The reason for the casualties was that the volunteers had a disadvantage - that is, poor weapons and equipment. Therefore, the confrontation between the volunteer army and the US army is entirely the volunteer army relying on its own will to fight against the advanced weapons of the US army.
Of course, the Beijing side is also aware of this huge deficiency. Therefore, the capital was also considering preparing to purchase weapons and equipment from the Soviet Union to arm the volunteer army, but when the entire Soviet ordnance force was armed, the war had entered the end.
2. Three battles and three victories
Ten days before the ceasefire of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, the headquarters sent an order that the 16th Army was ready to participate in the battle. This made Commander Yin feel very excited, but unexpectedly, the next sentence disappointed Commander Yin: that is, it was enough to send a company of military strength. Because this combat mission is to capture 527.7 heights. On that high ground, the U.S. army had only one company.
Although commander Yin only dispatched one company, the commander felt that it was better to use this highland as a test field to test his troops. So Commander Yin used 83 artillery pieces to shell the American positions together. It lasted about five minutes, and the entire U.S. position was completely unrecognizable. Shortly thereafter, Hill 527.7 was occupied by our army.
The next day. The commander received a new order: near the 8th Company of the 136th Regiment, there was a highland occupied by dutch troops, asking the 16th Army to send troops to take the heights. However, this time, Commander Yin did not use so many artillery - because the Dutch weapons and equipment and army combat effectiveness were not on the same level as the American army, so the 16th Army did not need to waste shells so much. Therefore, the commander simply ordered the infantry and armored soldiers to cooperate with each other, and under the cover of artillery, they took the Dutch high ground with a single blow- the Dutch insisted, and after only half an hour, they were collectively annihilated.
On the third day, Commander Yin received a new order: to take a position held by the Rok army. This made Commander Yin actually feel a little disappointed. Because the ROK army is the weakest army in the US camp. This army was previously a Japanese puppet army. These people are all serving as soldiers for the sake of a chaotic life, and fighting such an army is tantamount to being overkill. However, the commander of the army must of course obey the orders of his superiors. So the commander sent a company of troops to attack the Rokka highlands. The ROK highlands were actually stationed in a company. Although the Rok army was condescending, it only resisted for half an hour before it was covered by artillery fire and the entire army was destroyed.
In this way, in three days, the 16th Army fought three battles, and the comprehensive calculation was only two hours. But in just two hours, our army took three enemy positions and destroyed three companies belonging to three countries. And Yin Xianbing said afterwards:
"The strength of the US military is just like this, except for strong firepower, strong positions, good response and coordination, and nothing else is worth mentioning."
Because of the remarkable achievements, there is the opening scene: Commander Yin decided to let the headquarters of the US Eighth Army see the strength of the Soviet weapons, and as a result, he gave up because the war was about to end.
