For PHEV (plug-in hybrid, referred to as "plug-in hybrid"), people's general impression is that it can run tens of kilometers in pure electric state, and in the models sold, it is almost the ceiling that can run to 120 kilometers, but there are only a few plug-and-mix models that can achieve this pure electric endurance. This means that it is basically unrealistic to recharge once a week on a daily commute, after all, it is too normal to run thirty or forty kilometers a day.
But a new plug-in car recently launched by Great Wall's luxury brand WEY will put an end to this range anxiety because it can run more than two hundred kilometers in pure electricity.
This new car is the Mocha DHT PHEV, the new flagship of the WEY brand, which has a pure electric endurance of 204 kilometers, and a tank of oil in a fully charged state can actually run more than 1,000 kilometers. Both pure electric and comprehensive cruising range have exceeded the ideal ONE, and there is a great trend to end the market life of range extender hybrid (REEV) models ahead of schedule.
Moreover, at the new car conference, the manufacturer also made no secret of the ideal ONE as a direct competitor intention, in addition to the endurance, power indicators and technical routes and other aspects of the comparison, even the pre-sale price is very close, the two-wheel drive version of 299,000 yuan, the four-wheel drive version of 315,000 yuan, about 10% cheaper than the ideal ONE.
So the question is, in the face of the ideal ONE that has sold nearly 15,000 units a month, does mocha DHT PHEV have the strength to call the board?
Compared with hard indicators, Mocha DHT PHEV does have an advantage
Before discussing the indicators and technologies, let's take a general look at the origin of the Mocha DHT PHEV.
As the name suggests, this is a new car based on the Great Wall's own DHT hybrid system, but unlike the last latte DHT belonging to the ordinary oil-electric hybrid, the Mocha DHT PHEV is a plug-in hybrid version of the same technical route, which can be charged externally, and is also the second plug-in hybrid model of the new WEY brand coffee series (the first is the Macchiato DHT PHEV).
The new car pre-sale release, WEY officially threw out three "zero anxieties" for mocha DHT PHEV: endurance, performance and intelligence.
Endurance is the biggest selling point of the LATTE DHT PHEV, because it can run 204 kilometers in pure electric state, which significantly increases the upper limit of the pure electric mileage of 120 kilometers in the plug and mixing world, even if it is charged once a week, it can basically meet the total commuting distance of ordinary families within a week.
In addition, even for long-distance travel, the Mocha DHT PHEV can actually run thousands of kilometers in a tank of fuel in a fully charged state (the official technical data shows 1200 kilometers), because thanks to the unique two-speed transmission mechanism of the DHT hybrid system, and the 24% power increase brought by the battery pack using L-type long batteries and the new layout, even in the state of power loss, the comprehensive fuel consumption of 100 kilometers only needs 5.55 liters - it is worth mentioning that this is measured according to the latest WL TC standard. It is closer to the actual car scene than the traditional NEDC.
In contrast, the ideal ONE has improved its endurance after replacing the new three-in-one electric drive, but the actual cruising range measured under the WLTC standard is only 890 kilometers.

In this regard, the author does not intend to compare the intelligent level of Mocha DHT PHEV with the ideal ONE, or other 300,000-level competitors in detail, because this needs to be experienced in person before you have the right to speak, so leave it to you to feel it yourself.
The price was unexpected, but there was a good comparison
In fact, for the performance of mocha DHT PHEV, it is basically within the author's psychological expectations, after all, the Great Wall has been understood before this hybrid system. Only the pre-sale prices of 299,000 yuan and 315,000 yuan exceeded the previous forecast for two reasons.
First of all, the mocha 2.0T fuel version on sale is priced at 187,800-223,800 yuan, according to the price difference between other joint venture brand fuel vehicles and PHEV models is generally between 20% and 30% "convention", the author's prediction of the Mocha DHT PHEV is about 270,000 yuan, but I did not expect that it was about 300,000 yuan in the end.
Secondly, the current medium-sized SUV equipped with PHEV technology on the market, BYD's new Tang DM-i is in the range of 190,000-220,000 yuan (the old Tang DM is in the range of 240,000-290,000 yuan), and the UNI-K iDD version that Changan has just begun to pre-sell is also in the range of 180,000-200,000 yuan.
But in fact, the manufacturer's positioning of the Mocha DHT PHEV is not the case at all, because it directly targets the ideal ONE and AITO M5, two extended range hybrid models, and the price of the latter two is exactly around 300,000 yuan.
In this regard, the author himself calculated an account to determine whether the Mocha DHT PHEV is worth the price.
We take the byddy Tang DM-i, which is popular today, with a high-end model priced at 216,800 yuan, a battery pack capacity of 21.5 kWh, and a type of lithium iron phosphate. The battery capacity of the Mocha side is 40 kWh of electricity, and the type is ternary lithium. To put it simply, the price difference caused by the difference in battery capacity between the two is about 30,000 yuan, and the price difference between lithium iron phosphate and lithium ternary is about 20%-30%, which is reflected in the price of the car is about 10,000-15,000 yuan. Added up, the battery alone, mocha DHT PHEV will have to be at least 40,000 yuan higher.
Secondly, as far as the hybrid system itself is concerned, the GREAT Wall DHT system is a two-speed transmission mechanism, whether it is designed and manufactured or the control strategy, its complexity is more than BYD's single-stage reduction gear, because it involves trade secrets, how much it will be reflected in the price of the car We do not know, but there is definitely one.
In addition, the WEY brand is positioned in the Great Wall system to be high-end and luxurious, and its products are more in place than the same level of vehicles in terms of materials and configurations, which will undoubtedly increase the cost of the vehicle to a certain extent. On the other hand, BYD, as the earliest domestic car company involved in new energy, it already has a relatively complete technical reserve and production system in the core system of the three electrics, and has a certain first-mover advantage in terms of cost, and finally there will be a certain reflection in the price of the car.
Therefore, the price of Mocha DHT PHEV is basically calculated, and the manufacturer has also announced two valuable "0 anxiety" pre-sale supporting policies. What's more, compared with the ideal ONE, the Mocha DHT PHEV has a price advantage of about 10%, not to mention the performance indicator level discussed earlier.

Oh yes, 299,000 and 315,000 yuan are only pre-sale prices, and judging from the current information, this should be the top price of the Mocha DHT PHEV. When it is officially launched, the price of the lower configuration version is likely to be pulled down to around 270,000 yuan, and even does not rule out that like BYD Tang, the launch of a model with less battery life is half, which will significantly reduce the price system.
Of course, for manufacturers, their first choice for the positioning of mocha DHT PHEV is to fight with the ideal ONE bayonet, after all, the latter's current market momentum is there, and the data of tens of thousands of units per month has shown that the market recognizes it. As for whether it can end the life of the extender hybrid in advance, the most important thing depends on the actual experience of the user in the later stage.
But no matter who it is compared, it is a positive signal for the consumers of PHEV, because with the overall outbreak of the new energy market, PHEV has been recognized by the Red Sea market. BYD's surge in the past year is based on a number of new cars equipped with DM-i plug-in and hybrid technology.
Therefore, in the face of the arrival of today's MOCHA DHT PHEV, consumers should see its substantial progress in pure electric endurance, which will be a direct impact on the two-car collocation method of many families at this stage of "blue (oil car) running long distance + green card (EV) daily commuting", because with the PEV pure electric mileage exceeding 200 kilometers, there is not much practical significance in buying a pure electric vehicle to travel alone, even if it is only the Wuling Hongguang MINI EV that costs tens of thousands of yuan or something else.
Finally, with a little spoiler, Great Wall is already working on the development of next-generation products, including the more efficient DHT special engine and the PHEV-related technology with a pure electric endurance of more than 300 kilometers.
