General Patton

Liao Yaoxiang, a native of Shaoyang, Hunan, was a famous Chinese general during World War II, who graduated from the sixth phase of the Whampoa Military Academy and was later admitted to the Saint-Cyr Military Academy in France with the first place. Therefore, militarily, it has been well cultivated. Moreover, Liao Yaoxiang is also a general with both virtues, who does not smoke, drink, play cards, and is not close to women, and everything is in the interests of the country. Even Mr. Jiang Baili, a military expert of the Republic of China, once said that Liao Yaoxiang was the first soldier in Hunan after Cai Songpo (that is, Cai Yi), which was not too prestigious. Throughout Liao Yaoxiang's life: Throughout the War of Resistance Against Japan, he used soldiers worthy of famous Chinese and foreign generals; he did not allow the ancient and modern sages to govern their studies. Repay the favor of the country, serve the country, and be loyal to the martyrs: benevolent, honest and self-disciplined, and do not lose the gentleman's demeanor. If we only think that we will talk about the way, then wisdom, faith, courage, and strict martial virtues, none of them are not possessed, let alone one virtue to blame.

In terms of personality and military aspects, Liao Yaoxiang has been well appreciated by the world. And in his war career, as well as his contributions during the War of Resistance, he was also known as the Chinese Patton, who led the expeditionary force to play the prestige of the Chinese tiger.

Liao Yaoxiang

In 1936, Liao Yaoxiang returned to China, a year later the July 7 Incident broke out, then the battalion commander he was promoted to the second brigade lieutenant colonel staff chief, and participated in the defense of Nanjing, although his position was not very high at that time, but this did not affect his later achievements, after all, the nationalist army pays attention to the recognition of seniority. He is a sixth-term student of Huangpu and is considered a junior. You know, at that time, the big brother of the first phase of Huangpu was also a military commander, a division commander and other positions.

However, not long after the defeat of the defense of Nanjing, the Nationalist army was defeated and retreated. At this time, Xu Tingyao proposed to Chiang Kai-shek to form a mechanized unit, and the 200th Division was the first mechanized division of the Nationalist Army, and the division commander was Du Yuming, the eldest brother of the Huangpu Phase I. The division was the best equipped mechanical unit of the Nationalist army at that time, and Chiang Kai-shek heard that Liao Yaoxiang was studying mechanized combat in France, so he promoted him to chief of staff of the 200th Division. In the ensuing Battle of Kunlun Pass, this mechanized unit, under the command of Du Yuming, Zheng Dongguo, Dai Anlan, Qiu Qingquan, and Liao Yaoxiang, engaged in a hard-hitting engagement with the Japanese 5th Division, known as the Steel Army. At the same time, it also made the above Huangpu generals famous.

The victory of this battle made Liao Yaoxiang the new 22nd Division, and the former division commander Qiu Qingquan was promoted to deputy commander of the Fifth Army. On the basis of the new 22nd Division, Liao Yaoxiang later defeated the 18th Division regiment of the Japanese Kou Jungle Tiger on the battlefield of northern Burma, annihilating more than 20,000 enemies, and the humiliation of Yixue's defeat of Savage Mountain in early 1942. Chiang Kai-shek was delighted by the victory in the Battle of Northern Burma, and sent a telegram commending Liao Yaoxiang and noting the Chinese tiger. Since then, this title has also been accompanied by this ace division.

Shortly thereafter, Chiang Kai-shek airlifted the 14th and 50th Divisions to the front line of the counteroffensive in northern Burma and formed the New Sixth Army with the New 22nd Division, with Liao Yaoxiang as its commander. Since then, the New Sixth Army, the fifth main force of the Nationalist Army, was officially born, although it was established late, but the New Sixth Army was under the leadership of the famous general Liao Yaoxiang; the fierce tiger came out of the valley, the sword was sheathed, and together with the Chinese Expeditionary Force, it played the prestige of the Chinese tiger. Subsequently, the cities of Bamo, Nankan, and Mangshi were conquered, and the blood-stained Yunnan Burma Highway was opened. In the midst of the war, the New 6th Army grew into an ace army with the most well-equipped equipment and the highest quality of soldiers, which had a lot to do with Liao Yaoxiang's strict requirements for training and good combat style in peacetime.

After the victory of the War of Resistance, Liao Yaoxiang led the New Sixth Army to Nanjing by Chiang Kai-shek to accept the surrender of the Japanese army. Its purpose was to deter the Japanese and let them see the military might of the Chinese Tiger New Sixth Army.
