DIGITIMES: Global electric vehicle sales of 6.31 million in 2021, up 101%

As we all know, at present, new energy vehicles are in an explosive period, a variety of excellent models emerge in an endless stream, and the sales volume of new energy vehicles in China is also rising in a spurt. On January 17, Zhichepai learned from DIGITIMES Research data that global electric vehicle sales in 2021 will reach 6.31 million units, an increase of 101% year-on-year. From 2022 to 2023, more than 30 new electric vehicle models will appear in Europe, and by 2026, there will be more than 100 electric vehicle models in the US market.

In addition, according to the Association of Passenger Vehicles, retail sales in the narrow passenger car market reached 2.105 million units in December last year, down 7.9% year-on-year; cumulative retail sales for the whole year reached 20.146 million units, up 4.4% year-on-year. At the same time, the association expects that the penetration rate of new energy vehicles will be about 22% in 2022, and the penetration rate of new energy passenger vehicles can reach 25%.

In terms of sales of new energy vehicles, retail sales in December last year reached 475,000 units, an increase of 128.8% year-on-year, and retail sales for the whole year were 2.989 million units, an increase of 169.1% year-on-year. In December last year, the retail penetration rate of domestic new energy vehicles was 22.6%, and the annual penetration rate was 14.8%. The association also said that new energy vehicles are expected to exceed 6 million in 2022.
