A new industry report says Apple is planning to equip the long-rumored Apple Car with its own central integrated operating system, similar to Tesla having a system to operate driving controls and entertainment content. According to DigiTimes' supply chain news, Apple is developing an operating system specifically that will become "a central integrated operating system like Tesla."

In a sense, it is similar to Tesla, a single system that controls every aspect of the car. As a result, it will range from driving features like navigation and lane control, to in-car Apple Music integration and air conditioning. However, Tesla's operating system was not entirely developed by the car company, but a customized version of Linux Ubuntu.

Separately, DigiTimes reported on sources that a South Korean company "will assist in the development of autonomous driving sensors, which will be part of a domain name control unit (DCU). The DCU is a dedicated unit that handles the most demanding parts of automotive automation, such as processing data from sensors from cameras to lidar.
