According to Taiwan media DigiTimes, Apple's supply chain reported that Apple has completed the second phase of its AR/VR headset engineering verification test (EVT2) to ensure that the prototype device meets Apple's design goals and specifications, and is expected to enter mass production in Q3 and is expected to be listed at the end of this year.
It is rumored that Apple will launch ar/VR headsets in 2022 as high-end commercial products, which will use high-strength and lightweight magnesium alloy materials, including laser sensors, equipped with two 4K micro-OLED displays, 15 optical modules, two main processors, Wi-Fi 6E connectivity, which can achieve eye tracking, perspective AR mode, object tracking, gesture control and many other features.
In addition, DigiTimes further quoted Apple's supply chain as saying: "The said equipment is heavier and more expensive, locking in the needs of the professional market." The industry speculates that Apple's AR/VR headset will focus on gaming, audio and video and communications, and its backup price may rise to about $2,000 due to the relatively high cost of components and initial scale.
According to earlier news, Apple's AR/VR products will be equipped with the self-developed RealityOS operating system, and each Apple AR/VR headset will be equipped with a dual CPU produced by the 4nm and 5nm processes, which is a derivative of apple's M2 chip codenamed Staten and a coprocessor Bora chip.
