DSCC Analyst: Apple MR Headset, Sony PSVR2 or postponed to 2023

DSCC, a market research company specializing in displays, has released a trend report on AR/VR display panels. DSCC predicts that 15.8 million panels will be used for VR headsets this year, and the growth rate of VR headset shipments is expected to be 34% per year, and panel shipments will be 50% per year. Annual sales of AR and VR displays are expected to reach $9.3 billion by 2027, 12 times the $778 million this year.

In addition, DSCC analyst Ross Young added on Twitter that Apple MR devices and Sony PSVR 2 will both skip tickets to 2023, and Sony's new VR headset will use AMOLED screens.

PSVR Without Parole, a YouTube channel focused on sharing PSVR 2 intelligence, also said in March that Sony could release PSVR 2 in Q1 2023 because the PS5 is still (and will continue to be) out of stock. PSVR Without Parole noted that if Sony wants to maximize the users of the PSVR 2, the team must first boost shipments of the PS5.

As for Apple, Bloomberg said that due to problems such as chip fever, Apple's AR/VR headset may be postponed to the end of 2022 or 2023.
