Wanping Theater is still a good drama this year, following the "Dream of the Red Chamber", the Yue opera classics "Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai", "West Chamber" and "Home" will join the ranks of resident performances, with the theme of "spring, summer, autumn and winter" four seasons, one season at a time to send Yue opera feasts to theater fans.
"Eighteen send-offs", "Back to Eighteen", "Loutaihui", "Shanbo dying", "Yingtai Weeping Spirit", "Butterfly"... One of the "Four Classics" of Yue opera, "Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai", is a classic that fans can't get tired of watching. Directed by Sang Arc and Huang Sha, and starring Yuan Xuefen and Fan Ruijuan, the Yue opera opera art film of the same name is the first color opera film in New China, leaving a strong mark on film history.
"The Tale of the West Chamber" is one of the repertoire reserved by the Shanghai Yue Theatre, based on the miscellaneous drama "The Tale of the West Chamber" by Wang Shifu of the Yuanren, which tells the story of Zhang Sheng, a scholar of Tang Zhenyuanjian, who met the late Cui Xiangguo's daughter Yingying at the Universal Salvation Temple, and fell in love. More than 60 years ago, Yuan Xuefen, Xu Yulan, Lu Ruiying and Zhang Guifeng, four famous Yue opera artists, jointly performed "The Tale of the West Chamber".
The newly compiled modern Yue opera "Home" is a successful play carefully planned and produced by Shanghai Yue Theatre to celebrate the centenary of the birth of contemporary literary giant Ba Jin. Although "Home", as a literary masterpiece, has been put on the screen and stage many times, the work does not take the shortcut of transplanting from ready-made films or stage works, but starts from the requirements of the Yue script and opera, minimizes the clues, streamlines the characters, simplifies some of the storylines that have been widely known, and focuses the main ink on the psychological revelation of the characters. Strive to compare the fates and different life directions of the two sets of love tragedies through Juexin and Mei, and Ruijue, Juehui and Mingfeng.
At the same time, the "Series of Performances commemorating the centenary of the birth of Yue Opera Grandmaster Yuan Xuefen", "Commemorating the Series of Performances of Yue Opera Grandmaster Wang Wenjuan", and 12 "Shengshi Yuezhang" performances focusing on Mesozoic actors will also be staged this year.
