The Kuomintang general Qiu Qingquan, why was he crazy, died 400 meters away from the military headquarters

In the history of China's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, there have been many heroes who spilled their blood for the country, and Qiu Qingquan is one of them.

Although he was in the Kuomintang, in the Famous Battles of Kunlun Pass, the Battle of West Yunnan and other famous battles, you can see him fighting bravely regardless of life and death, and even being jokingly called "Qiu Crazy Maniac" by his comrades-in-arms, but such a warrior was really crazy later, often talking nonsense, what is the matter?

Qiu Qingquan's origin

In 1902, Qiu Qingquan was born in Zhejiang, his parents attached great importance to his study of traditional culture, from primary school, his grades were the first, to high school, Qiu Qingquan because of his excellent results, successfully admitted to the Department of Sociology of Shanghai University.

In 1924, he was admitted to the Whampoa Military Academy, so he planned to throw in the pen. He wrote a letter to his father expressing his ambitions, which read: A three-foot sword in the hands of a strong man, a hundred thousand soldiers in his chest. His pride and ambition can be seen.

During his time at the school, Qiu Qingquan participated in the suppression of the Rebellion of the Merchants in Guangzhou and the First Crusade, and then participated in a number of large and small battles and accumulated a lot of practical combat experience.

But at this time, he had not yet entered Chiang Kai-shek's sight.

In 1927, Ninghan split, and Chiang Kai-shek and Wang Jingwei broke up. Because of his support for Chiang Kai-shek, Qiu Qingquan was arrested by Wang Jingwei's gang, and although he found an opportunity to escape, he was arrested by agents of the National Revolutionary Army.

Fortunately, Qiu Qingquan wrote a letter to Chiang Kai-shek, expressing his sincerity, and was finally released. It was at this time that Chiang Kai-shek took a fancy to this young and promising young man.

In June of the same year, Qiu Qingquan was transferred to the Major Section of the Training Department of the General Headquarters, and in November he was transferred to the Commander-in-Chief's entourage of staff officers.

In 1934, he took the examination for studying in Germany, and his ingenuity led him to take the first place among nine people and successfully went to the Army University in Berlin, Germany.

And this time the study abroad experience has also become a boost for Qiu Qingquan's subsequent steps. For example, he later became the deputy commander of the 200th Division, the only mechanized division of the Kuomintang, and also met the division commander Du Yuming.

After returning to China, he made all the way to the clouds

Although Qiu Qingquan studied in Germany, he always kept his heart on the construction of the motherland. So after three years in Germany, he resolutely returned to his homeland.

As soon as Qiu Qingquan returned, he began to participate in the construction of the modern national defense force, and in 1938, he successfully became the deputy commander of the 200th Division, the only mechanized unit of the Kuomintang, and became good friends with the division commander Du Yuming.

Du Yuming had also studied at the Whampoa Military Academy and was his senior, but Qiu Qingquan was two years older than Du Yuming.

In other words, Qiu Qingquan may not think much of his age and study, because he is notoriously arrogant and rude, and it is not too much to say that his eyes are higher than the top.

However, he had great respect for Du Yuming, which showed that Du Yuming was also a very powerful person, otherwise Qiu Qingquan, who had a belly full of foreign ink and showed Wen Tao's martial strategy since childhood, would not be so convinced.

After that, Du Yuming and Qiu Qingquan's relationship became better and better, and their cooperation on the battlefield became more and more tacit, which was one of the reasons for their great victory at Kunlun Pass.

Kunlun Pass Great Victory The Battle of Eastern Henan suffered losses

In December 1939, Qiu Qingquan led his troops to participate in the Battle of Guinan under the leadership of division commander Du Yuming, and fought a bloody battle at Kunlun Pass.

After the battle began on the 18th, the Fifth Army captured Kunlun Pass for the third time, and finally annihilated more than 5,000 enemy troops.

Qiu Qingquan blocked the Japanese reinforcements with chariot troops and concentrated his forces to attack Kunlun Pass.

At that time, Qiu Qingquan led the troops not only killed Masao Nakamura, the commander of the Japanese 21st Brigade, but also completely annihilated the 21st Wing with a tank, and Qiu Qingquan was also known as "Qiu Crazy" from this time.

The Kunlun Pass Victory was the first victory of the Chinese army during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and greatly stimulated the patriotism of the vast number of soldiers and civilians.

If the battle was fought well, the official road would naturally go smoothly, and it was not long before Qiu Qingquan was appointed commander of the Fifth Army. However, after the War of Resistance Against Japan, the Kuomintang and the Communists fought, and the situation changed again.

In July 1946, when the Soviet-Chinese Campaign began, Qiu Qingquan was even more arrogant and rampant, and he felt that the Kuomintang army he led was victorious in every battle, and even preached that the People's Liberation Army "did not fight every five days".

This is because at that time, the East China Liberation Army took the initiative to withdraw from Huainan, so Qiu Qingquan occupied several cities. In the Battle of Dingtao in August, Liu Bocheng was fighting the enemy in the west, and gave Qiu Qingquan an opportunity.

But people who are too proud always have to suffer losses, and Qiu Qingquan never thought that in the next battle of Eastern Henan, he would be defeated, or even collapsed.

The Battle of Eastern Henan was a large-scale operation in the Central Plains of the Second Kuomintang-Communist Civil War of China, and it was this battle that our army defeated the Kuomintang army and then retreated one after another.

From June to July 1948, the East China Field Army, with the cooperation of the Central Plains Field Army, captured Kaifeng, the capital of Henan Province, and annihilated the Shounian Corps of the District and the East China Field Army to annihilate the 66th Division of the Kaifeng Defenders.

The Kuomintang originally planned to advance hand in hand, leading the Kuomintang Fifth Army, the District Shounian Corps, and the Huang Baitao Corps to advance at the same time.

However, the People's Liberation Army used tactics to make the Kuomintang think that Kaifeng had fallen, and Qiu Qingquan wanted to lead the 5th Division to occupy Kaifeng, but did not want to fall into the trap of the Plaster, and only Qiu Qingquan's Fifth Division was left in Kaifeng City.

This also means that Qiu Qingquan lost, and lost completely.

In the past, when he resisted Japan, Qiu Qingquan was invincible and killed the mighty Japanese fiercely.

But now, he has become a gradual defeat, this kind of gap makes Qiu Qingquan suddenly somewhat unacceptable, all day crazy talk, collapse yelling,

He even had no intention of fighting, and broke away from the army in the name of shouxiao.

However, Chiang Kai-shek still attaches great importance to Qiu Qingquan, after all, Qiu Qingquan's previous style on the battlefield was fierce and vigorous, and he made many military achievements, and he could not be denied by virtue of this defeat.

Therefore, Chiang Kai-shek "invited" Qiu Qingquan back and made him the commander of the 2nd Regiment.

Qiu Qingquan was close to collapse

Qiu Qingquan, who had returned to the army, was very excited, and even vowed to fight with the "communist bandits", but a person did not say that he could cheer up.

Qiu Qingquan very much wanted to be humiliated and regain his confidence and prestige on the battlefield, but the reality was that it was getting worse than a day, and even getting more and more crazy.

Qiu Qingquan's madness seemed to imply something, and the mental breakdown of a fighter seemed to indicate that time was running out for the Kuomintang.

The fate of the individual is often linked to the fate of the country, and when the Kuomintang and the Communist Party fought the final battle in the Liberation War, the situation gradually became clear.

However, who would have thought that he would eventually die in the farmland about four hundred meters southeast of Zhangmiaotang Village, and be shot several times!

So why did Qiu Qingquan run to Zhang Miaotang Village?

In February 1948, Qiu Qingquan led his troops into the Chenguanzhuang area northeast of Yongcheng, Henan, and when he was just about to settle down, Qiu Qingquan learned that the 45th Division of the 5th Army was besieged by the People's Liberation Army, and if they were not supported, it was likely that the entire division would be destroyed by the regiment.

He also ran to Du Yuming and asked to stop the pace of progress for the time being and save people first.

This kind of decision is undoubtedly irrational, and it is impossible for a person who has been through many battles and has left a study to be unaware of the consequences of such a decision.

Du Yuming finally went to the rescue, but the price of saving people was that the 300,000 troops in his hands were trapped, just because Qiu Qingquan personally wanted to rescue the 45th Division, because of small losses. Why?

The stagnation of 300,000 people gave the PLA two days of opportunity, and when they went to rescue the 45th Division, the PLA continued to accelerate its march and surrounded them in the Chenguanzhuang area.

And this siege directly led to greater losses of the Kuomintang army.

If the 45th Division was not saved, Du Yuming's unit might still be able to survive, but now, hundreds of thousands of people are in danger, and they have nowhere to escape.

Killed in Zhangmiaotang Village

At three o'clock in the afternoon of January 6, 1949, 10 main columns and tens of thousands of artillery pieces of the People's Liberation Army launched a general attack on them.

Suddenly, the sound of gunfire was everywhere, and even if their tactics were strong, they could only be surrounded, and they could only see if there was a breakthrough, rush to minimize casualties.

Later, Du Yuming and Qiu Qingquan judged the location of the gunshots and found that there was a gap that could be tried. This gap is in the southeast.

So several of them gathered together and walked forward, only to be scattered by the guns of the People's Liberation Army, and Qiu Qingquan also ran away with them.

At this time, Qiu Qingquan had completely lost his mind, and while he was running madly, he kept shouting in his mouth that the Communist Party was coming, and the Communist Party was coming!

When people found Qiu Qingquan's body the next day, it was about 400 meters away from Chen Zhuang, that is to say, he had been spinning around in the same place the night before, otherwise how could he have only run out of 400 meters, and what he had experienced on the last night of his life, no one knew.

There are two theories about the cause of Qiu Qingquan's death. Some people think he committed suicide, while others think he killed him. As for which is closer to the truth in the end, there has not been an official statement for a long time.

It was not until 1994, when an elderly man named Yuan Shuoqing published a book called "The Fourth Series of Wei Du Literature and History Materials", that the mystery was unveiled.

Yuan Shuoqing, who was the battalion commander at the time, once saw the scene before General Qiu Qingquan's death.

He recalled that qiu Qingquan tried to break through that day without success, and there were many officers and soldiers around him who were besieged with him, and many guards and officers had lived and died with Qiu Qingquan, and they were unwilling to abandon him.

But Qiu Qingquan said to them: If you don't succeed, you will become a ren, and you will gather in Nanjing, leave me alone, and even shoot them away.

Perhaps Qiu Qingquan was ready to commit suicide in his heart, and after he let the officers and soldiers leave, he himself saluted to the south and made a final farewell.

After the ceremony, he pretended to lie weakly on the ground, slowly took a gun from his coat, and fired a shot at his abdomen. After being shot in the left abdomen, two more shots were fired.

At this time, although Qiu Qingquan was in pain, he still had a certain degree of consciousness, and he asked the commander of the far battalion to continue to replenish his gun.

The commander of the far battalion hesitated, but Qiu Qingquan seemed to have made up his mind, and finally the commander of the far battalion ordered the signal soldiers standing on the side to shoot, and Qiu Qingquan fell in a pool of blood.

Later, the commander of the far battalion was also injured by a shell in the confusion and lost consciousness.

After waking up, he disguised himself as an ordinary Nationalist army and was eventually released because of his injuries. It was not until the twilight of his life that he told this personal experience.

Qiu Qingquan was undoubtedly also a patriotic general in the first half of his life, and after the Battle of Kunlun Mountain, he wrote:

"Years of Twilight Ke Kunlun, the flag is frozen." Heaven opens to the earth, and the qi seizes the soul of Yamato. Beacons are connected to mountain trees, and knife light is illuminated with bullet marks. But with iron and blood, Hu Yu'an foot theory. ”

This was the most glorious battle of his life, and the Nationalist government also awarded Qiu Qingquan the Fourth Class Baoding Medal, and even the Japanese army recognized the prestige of Chiang Kai-shek's army at that time. But such a Qiu Qingquan ended up in such a fate, which inevitably made people sigh.
