In order to occupy Liutang and cut off the retreat of the Japanese army, all the officers and men of the 22nd Division fought bloody battles against the enemy army several times, and finally occupied Liutang, which also laid the groundwork for the kunlun pass victory.
Later, the enemy army dispatched elite troops to Wutang and waited for Qiu Qingquan, at which time Qiu commanded the troops to engage the enemy head-on, pretending to flee and luring the enemy into the ambush place in advance, and wiping out the Japanese army. Later, the new 22nd Division was ordered to detour to Kunlun Pass to fight.
On December 31, Qiu Qingquan immediately entered the battle around Kunlun Pass, and together with several other divisions, he annihilated the enemy's 5th Division, and finally killed Masao Nakamura and annihilated thousands of enemy troops, which was a great victory in the War of Resistance, known in history as the Kunlun Pass Victory.
After the war, Qiu Qingquan was awarded the Baoding Medal of the Fourth Class, promoted to deputy commander of the 5th Army, and also earned the nickname of "Qiu Madman" for his bravery in this battle. Later, it was resisted in the Western Yunnan Counter-Offensive Campaign.
