This afternoon (January 12), the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology released the production and sales of China's automobiles in 2021. Under the influence of unfavorable factors such as chip shortage and raw material price increases, automobile production and sales in 2021 still achieved steady growth, ending a downward trend for three consecutive years.
Data show that in 2021, China's automobile production and sales reached 26.082 million and 26.275 million vehicles, respectively, an increase of 3.4% and 3.8% year-on-year, respectively. Among them, the sales of new energy vehicles reached 3.521 million units, an increase of 1.6 times year-on-year, ranking first in the world for seven consecutive years.
Fu Bingfeng, executive vice president and secretary general of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers: The production and sales of new energy vehicles exceeded 3 million, which is a huge change, representing the development of new energy from the past policy-driven to market-driven.
In addition, China's automobile exports also hit a record high in 2021, with the annual export volume reaching 2.015 million units, an increase of 1 times year-on-year, accounting for 7.7% of total automobile sales. The industry predicts that China's auto market is expected to achieve sustained growth in 2022, and the total sales volume is expected to reach 27.5 million units, an increase of about 5% year-on-year.
