The Spring Festival of the Year of the Tiger is approaching, and on January 11, the fourth phase of the 2021 "In Guangdong" series of activities, guided by the Department of Culture and Tourism of Guangdong Province and sponsored by the Guangdong Provincial Cultural Center (Guangdong Provincial Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Center), opened in the exhibition hall on the first floor of the Guangdong Provincial Cultural Center.
The tiger, as one of the twelve zodiac signs, is known as the "King of the Hundred Beasts" for its fierceness and majesty. This art exhibition invited many national and provincial representative inheritors of intangible cultural heritage, masters of arts and crafts, etc. to participate together, and exhibited Works of Lingnan Intangible Cultural Heritage on the theme of the "Tiger" Zodiac, such as Shiwan Pottery Sculpture, Foshan Paper-cutting, Guangdong Embroidery, and Chao Embroidery.
Zheng Xiaoyang, deputy director of the Guangdong Provincial Culture Center, introduced in his speech at the opening ceremony, "From the heavy instrument of the country that represents the symbol of national power, to the living furnishings of ordinary people's homes, from the most well-known zodiac tiger to the folk tiger in the hands of folk craftsmen, in various fields of traditional culture such as writing, language, poetry, sculpture, painting, novel, opera, folklore, folklore, folklore, folk skills, etc., the image of the tiger is everywhere and has become an indispensable part of Chinese civilization." ”

This exhibition can be described as "Qunhu Qi Xiaoqing New Year", there are Guangdong embroidery master Chen Shaofang, Chao embroidery master Sun Qingxian and other vivid embroidery tigers, There are Chen Yongcai, Rao Baolian and other paper-cutting artists with full charm of paper-cutting tigers, there are olive carving master Zeng Zhaohong delicate and exquisite olive carving tigers, as well as Guangdong Provincial Arts and Crafts master Wang Zengfeng, Shiwan pottery master Pan Bolin vivid image of pottery tigers and other different technical forms and expression methods of tiger images.
Among them, the Xiashan Tiger Chao embroidery created by Sun Qingxian, the representative inheritor of chao embroidery at the national level, has been presented to the Canadian prime minister as a "national gift". This tide embroidery adopts the technique of K gold chaotic needlework, with vivid shape, fur image and realistic texture, which truly expresses the mighty momentum of the tiger "a whistle of wind and a hundred beasts". The series of "Enjoying the Year of The Year" by Teacher Pan Bolin is a zodiac sculpture specially created for the Year of the Tiger. The five tigers with different postures reproduce the heroic posture and proud momentum of the king of the hundred beasts, which can be described as "a long roar of the sky, earth-shaking arrogance", vividly interpreting the exquisite craftsmanship of Shiwan pottery's thousand-year heritage.
In addition to the traditional intangible cultural heritage works, this exhibition also exhibits the "Tiger Young General" IP series based on the Bronze Tiger Festival of the Western Han Dynasty, the "Ji Wufu Series" of appreciating culture, the "Great King Driving to" and other cultural and creative products of the Museum of the Nanyue King of the Western Han Dynasty, which are both fierce and cute, containing the meaning of vitality and sunshine.
On the opening day of the exhibition, the organizer also invited Liu Zhongping, a guest of exhibitor and a representative inheritor of Foshan woodblock New Year paintings at the municipal level, to bring you the interactive experience of Foshan woodblock New Year paintings, teach everyone how to print a mighty and lovely New Year painting tiger, and wish the broad masses of the people in the Year of the Tiger "full power".
The exhibition time of the "Tiger Full Open - Nongyin Tiger Year Zodiac Theme Exhibition" will last until January 22, 2022, during which the Year of the Tiger Theme Handicraft Class will also be launched, inviting exhibitors to share the historical connotation of traditional Zodiac culture and related intangible cultural heritage production techniques.
