The PC market is not simple: Intel, AMD more fierce competition Price cuts will become the norm

The PC market benefited from the epidemic and demand has expanded significantly, but after this surge in demand, the market has cooled down significantly.

After a wave of sales, the PC market is expected to cool down significantly this year. This makes the competition between Intel and AMD chipmakers more intense: AMD needs to continue to grab more market share, but Intel can no longer afford to leave its own land.

Market research firm IDC estimates that PC shipments will grow nearly 12 percent to 337.6 million units in 2021, compared to a 13 percent increase in the previous year. But IDC expects PC sales to be on par with last year, up just 1 percent in 2023.

Due to the success of new Mac computers equipped with Apple's own chips, amD-based chips are likely to gain more attention. Qualcomm announced at the Consumer Electronics Show that more than 200 enterprise customers are testing or deploying the company's ARM-based Snapdragon chips on Microsoft Windows devices.

Some investors said that "PC manufacturers need to respond strongly to the new M1-based Macs," but the market share of ARM architecture chips like Snapdragon will come at the expense of seizing the share of X86 chips produced by Intel and AMD.

Industry insiders also said that in addition to the competition on products, AMD and Intel-related competition will also be reflected in price reductions, and the corresponding products will also reduce prices, so as to stimulate more users, which is a good thing for consumers.
